Patapon is more of an RPG than this game. You can't get anywhere in Patapon without going through the same levels multiple times grinding for better Patapon and equipment (when a game explicitly encourages the player to grind, that's a bad thing). The game requires so very little involvement from the player that even if you do an essentially perfect run on a level, you might not make it to the end simply because your Patapon aren't strong enough. Definitely a mechanic that game could've done without, and I've heard its sequels are even worse because they offer you more stuff to grind.

Needless to say, I didn't quite enjoy Patapon and have no interest in Patapon 3. Instead I'll be enjoying this well-balanced and extremely fast-paced top-down hack 'n' slash game.
