Zzzzz almost fell asleep. At least allow the player to be a Chaplain or techmarine or Force Commander or something if you're gonna cast the player in the most boring group within the most boring faction. I would have liked  an action game centered around the Imperial Guard instead.

Orks versus Space marines, grim antagonist, chaos marines come in and fuck shit up, and someone on the space marine side falls to chaos and betrays his friends? Honestly the story sounds shitty. Tau, Necrons, Grey Knights, Eldar, Dark Eldar, all could make the story way better. Also, they should use the other space marine chapters, the blood ravens and ultramarines have next to no interesting back story. Crimson fists, Blood angels, space wolves, dark templars, all have way more interesting lore. "

looks polished, smooth combat gameplay. Only problem i could see is it might get repetitive.

Not surprisingly, Relic is designing Space Marine as a cover-based third-person shooter--but the surprising part is, there's no cover system. You can certainly move behind objects in the environment to avoid getting shot up, but don't expect the sort of stop-and-pop, shooting-over-barricades action that you get in your Gears of Wars. Relic says that kind of fearful, methodical approach isn't characteristic of the nine-foot-tall, genetically engineered space marine, who's unflinchingly loyal to the emperor and will stop at nothing to carry out his will. So you don't take cover. You stride into the middle of the fight and start laying waste with your heavy weapons and fancy chainsword.

I'll be playing this.

HOWEVER, if it's just another 2-hours of single player
campaign/spend-all-your-time-in-multiplayer, then FUCK THAT,
I will NOT be playing.

I want another Homeworld so very much! The IP was owned by Sierra before Sierra went under, but it belongs to THQ now. THQ publishes Relic's games, so it isn't too crazy to imagine that they could work something out there, right? "

Looking forward to this, big fan of what Relic have done with the Warhammer 40k license.

Disagree. It has third person shooting. That's about it.
This looks a lot faster then Gears and it has melee combat which GoW doesn't have. (Executions don't count as combat)
As for style, 40K started the whole "space marine" thing. The last thing I want is for them to go "Well, this other game looks like our stuff so we probably shouldn't make a game." If anyone has a right to do a game with big bulky dudes in big bulky suits its 40K.GoW doesn't own the third person genre. "

I think they explained the game in such a manner to get even more fans, because obviously the fans of Warhammer 40k is going to buy it anyways! :D
