the videogames industry is crazy. the only entertainment medium where the devs don't want people to know that their product exists.

Hmm... cross faction team-ups?  That's cool.   Though I look forward to actual gameplay.  Quick look style. :)  

They were all like, "Yeah, you can throw trains.  So what?  We've got swords and shit."

Been waiting... For so long... So hard to get excited over trailers after all these years...

Man, CG trailers can be so cool

I've been pretty damn excited for this ever since the crazy RPS preview on it (ARG puzzles as part of the game sound either ridiculous or awesome). My biggest concern is that Funcom did technically make Age of Conan...

I hope this sells well, if only to get enough money for Funcom to make The Longest Journey: Chapters.

The monster designs and being set in modern times giving off Lovecraft vibes then hearing about the lack of leveling has got me pretty excited for this.
 
Having dabbled a bit in AoC though, my expectations are way more measured.

Clearly that subway monster is the best kept secret in the game.

One of the days a dev is going to give up making a video game, and design a sophisticated unfathonable kick tail end cgi movie instead

The shot of the four of them looking at the building looked a fuck of a lot like I Am Alive.

Seriously interested in this game.

I never got into WoW, but I suspect I'm a MMORPG victim just waiting to happen, and whatever this is has me very interested. Plus, I like CG! No, for real, FF7 was one of my early games and shaped how I expect games to work; monotony with strategy performed with the end goal of shiney computer stuff

If this game was realistic they would all be rubbing their eyes like crazy

It's ZOMBIES: THE MMO. The gameplay looks completely uninspired, hence the expensive CG trailer.

Without the developers talking about what the hell is going on this looks so goddamn boring. Also the skill system sounds like once the mini-maxing fanatics take a couple of whacks at it there's only going to be 4 builds that are going to be effective and everything else will be garbage in comparison.

Are you kidding? The game will launch your browser so that you can look up clues on google! Or, you know, so that you can get a walkthrough. What other game allows you to do that for $60 and a monthly fee?

I guess we can be assured that they won't only have finished the low level areas this time...since characters in this game don't have levels.

That's right. They just have an XP bar which you fill up to get skill points. It's totally different. No classes either! Just "templates," it's a revolution.

@Landon: It doesn't look very bad, either. Could be interesting, and have enough uniqueness to it to make it have slightly longer staying power than some regular fantasy MMOs not made by Blizzard.

My problem with this game is still the 'finding out information' mechanic. Nothing about it sounds even remotely interesting. I have to go to Google to find out the secret that will unlock this treasure chest? You just cannot be serious.

I'm hoping that Ragnar Tornquist has something special up his sleeve with this game.

THE LONGEST JOURNEY is one of the great games and I think they guy is pretty much a genius.

Hopefully they'll let people sign up for the beta soon.

They're basically from competing factions, which I think include the Templars and the Illuminati.

This is by Funcom, the same company that did Age of Conan, so... I'd wait a couple months and see how badly (or brightly) it burns before you jump in. Coincidentally, Age of Conan is mostly free to play now.
