This Is Probably Harmonix's Next Game

So this is the new game that we'll get to hear Jeff rattle on for a year and ahalf about how "the Kinect 2.0 can actually work" while the rest of the games are terrible.

At first I read, "Bruno Mars", then "Fun!", and I thought, "Not even Disney has enough money to make Bruno Mars fun", then I saw "Queen" and realized that "Fun!" must be a musical group, and that's when I realized that Fantasia probably isn't the game for me.

Well thats 1/8 of the XBONE Xclusives!

Disney and Bruno Mars? For as much as I love you Harmonix, there's no chance of me playing this.

It looks perfectly enjoyable in that casual Kinect game sort of way, but I really hope they have something planned to deserve the Fantasia title, other than Dance Central with particle effects.

I'm sure this game has an audience somewhere but they're not the sort I associate with. Also enough with the dubstep in trailers already...

I'm thankful for announcements like these getting out of the way of E3 early.

Seems more like a tool or utility than what might be a full game, but I'm sure Harmonix can make something pretty fun and progressive with this.

Fantasia! Except, Fantasia was nothing but classical music and they didn't seem to mention any classical music in this trailer. If it doesn't include The Sorcerer's Apprentice they're doing something wrong.

Does this game really need the Fantasia license, or is the 70 year old film a real hit with the kids and i just don't know it. Unless it has some of the original music in it, i don't see the point. I certainly don't see the Fantasia name selling more games, I think Harmonics has reached a point of mainstream penetration where they don't need to ride on the back of some shitty Disney property in order to sell games. Just saying from the makers of Dance Central and Rock Band is going to be much more relevant to the game buying public.

@Dawgs4Life I was referring to the logos at the bottom of the game title screen. There is a Kinect for Xbox 360 logo, and Xbox One logo, a Harmonix logo, and a Disney Interactive logo. There is no Microsoft Studios logo, hence Microsoft is not the publisher.

Yes, it plays the Xbox One wrapper at the end, which has a Microsoft logo, but that does not make it a Microsoft game. That wrapper (or at least a similar one) is on the end of every Xbox specific game trailer.

If this was like a Kinect powered Fantavision then that would be rad.

Umm... I'm not sure what this game entails, but I'm pretty sure that no matter what the case, using the Fantasia brand makes no sense whatsoever.

It isn't Fantasia if it doesn't have classical music. I'm sure it will be somewhere in the game but shitty dance music, crappy R&B, and pop? Just not what Fantasia is. Fantasia was good because it helped introduce more people to classical music, not regurgitate the recent radio fluff. They could even use more recent stuff like Max Richter's recent Four Seasons "recomposed" album. It was pretty cool:

Anyway this trailer is awful/silly, hopefully the game is actually good. Though it is Kinect related so I will never play it.

I'll wait to see it in action, but my first impression is that I'm not remotely interested. "Controlling" music with goofy arm gestures just doesn't seem like it would be a hit concept, like Rock Band was. Everyone secretly wants to be a rock musician. Does anyone want to be a music-controlling arm flailing guy?

But again - I'll wait to see the concept in action. I hope it succeeds, because I like the HMX dudes, and I want them to succeed.

Leave it to HMX to make the first truly, in my opinion, interesting thing for the Xbox One.

The description telling me to listen to the Podcast is probably the icing on the cake of how completely stupid this is. I know it probably isn't, but it comes off as really, really gross cross-promotion.

Look I'm all for Harmonix making something new and successful but... Fantasia is about classical music is it not. It was stated that the original intent of Fantasia was to update it every few years with different music which was the case with Fantasia 2000 but this does not in any way fit the branding of Fantasia or Disney for that matter. It could for all intents and purposes be called Kinect Music for all I care and it would probably be better received by those of us who remember Fantasia.

If you want an example of what Fantasia is supposed to be I present a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali that was not finished for Fantasia and was completed many years later.

Not necessarily. I know (now) that Fun! sings the song "We Are Young" (which I have heard), but until this moment, if someone were to ask me, "Who is Fun?", my answer would have been, "I don't know? Brad Muir seems kinda fun".

Fantasia is an amazing masterpiece. This music is shit.

This is actually a pretty cool idea and I truly believe that there is a fantastic game dwelling within the concept of a Fantasia video game. I have absolutely no clue what that game would be or look like, but I'm pretty sure that whatever this is isn't it.
