This Is Probably Harmonix's Next Game

Was totally not expecting the Fantasia licence here, but Harmonix makes good stuff.

I just laughed so hard. I don't know if that's a bad thing or a good thing. Probably both.

None of that made any sense to me.

It looks neat, but I'm not gonna buy it.

I love Fantasia. I was given the VHS as a child one christmas, and as a result largely of the dinosaurs, I fell in love with Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and all those other classics, Beethoven's 6th Symphony, Night on Bald Mountain, the whole thing really. Plus the animation is incredible, a real depth of imagination and Disney style. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is one of the best things Disney ever produced.

So hearing some shitty modern pop dubstep bullshit attached to a game where thoroughly hip people move around like professional dancers while light explodes around them? Fuck that. This has literally nothing to do with Fantasia whatsoever, and fuck Disney for pushing that name on this.

I'm sure this game will be fun, and if you're into music of this type that's all good too. But this is not in any way true to the name Fantasia. This is probably the angriest reaction I've had to a video game announcement in years.

2014 for both 360/one. would have made more sense if it came out for ONE at launch

Felt the same way after seeing this. Fantasia was one of my favorite animated works as a child. It basically introduced me to classical music and gave me an appreciation for it from early on.

And yeah, from what I can see this really has almost nothing to do with the name other than I'm sure some stupid marketing executive at Disney remembered they hadn't been put the "Fantasia" branding to use recently and maybe didn't have a better or more recognizable "music" franchise to debase instead.

Disney has seriously lost respect for its properties. They shouldn't be putting the Fantasia name on this.

This is unbelievable. Everything about this is from some kind of nega-reality.

I spent the entirety of the trailer wondering what "Disney masterpiece" this could possibly be about. Then the name "Fantasia" appeared on the screen. Now I'm just confused.

Seems like harmonix hasnt been making games lately as much as they have been making "look like an ass in front of your friend" simulators.

If this works and has creative properties akin to something like Frequency/Amplitude, this might actually be a system seller for me.

This is not what I expected when I heard there was going to be a game named after Disney's Fantasia.

First time seeing that XBO logo pop after the trailer.

This game is not for me.

I'll wait for the hilarious moves people are going to be doing in front of their TVs and of course on the quick look, they haven't done a kinect quick look in a while.

These kind of videos do absolutely nothing for me. I love Harmonix (ok, mostly just Rock Band,) but this video couldn't be less aimed at me if they tried. I'm becoming such an old man.

Concept seems a little tech demo-y but could be interesting. Like PixelJunk 4AM or something.

Now that trailer.. I'm embarrassed watching it. Zero attempt to connect with anything resembling what Fantasia means to people, all marketing crap. I'm also a little worried that the Harmonix animators can't match the Disney level of quality for their visual landscapes, it's not coming through in the screenshots. Need to see a live demo but I should be really excited for this out of the gate, not disappointed.

This was the video that came to mind when I first saw the video. HMX has made some of my favorite most played games last generation. Definitely looking forward to more from that team.

Also world of color I hear is pretty rad and so is dancing. We'll see it soon enough.

Fantasia: Dubstep Theremin edition

Looks neat but I'd really appreciate it if Harmonix would stop wasting my time and show me the DANCE CENTRAL 4 plz.

My love for anything Harmonix and my disinterest for anything Disney shall fight to the death.

Yes based on the masterpiece...oh you mean the films, got it. I'm getting more of a disney manufactured pop-star vibe from this trailer than anthropomorphic hippos and brooms though.

Gameplay wise I'm going to guess it kind of a full-body version of Double Fine's Dropchord. It also makes me think of FantaVision, but I'm probably just being mislead by the trailer's presentation.

No classical music, no dice.

I want to stretch out my arms naked to "Night on Bald Mountain" while the game inserts devil wings on me and lots of miniature demons and harpies dancing on my belly; nothing less will do!

This will probably be a cool game that will be well made by a really talented group of people that will be a ton of fun if you were a fan of Dance Central. I hope it is a success for them but I couldn't possibly be any less interested.

If I was getting an Xbox 1, I would definitely get this. Can't wait for the quicklook

Published by Disney. The 15 exclusives are MS published and games like Fable Anniversary aren't included. Only X1 games.

Not really, I didn't know I'm supposed to know every band that exists now a days, one who is relatively new, and to top it all off plays music of a particular genre I don't listen to.

This looks awesome, but how can you call it Dinsey's Fantasia without having, you know, CLASSICAL MUSIC??? Kind of the whole point.

This looks like something that could be really cool for the right audience. I just don't think I'm really that audience. I am interested to see what they can do with the new Kinect tech though.
