@jeff Sunless Sea is a deep Vinny or Rorie joint, but it definately is a "simmer" game which requires playing deeply.

I love how not excited they were to sit through Tales from the Borderlands.

The artstyle was alright, but, yes. The writing, gameplay and UI all seemed pretty poor.

Ziggurat seems like a perfect podcasting game.

At about 09:15 Jeff comments something like "look at how big the wheel gets in this frame when you kick, for no good reason."

The actual reason is that the player character is a so called 'sprite', a graphical entity that is rendered independently of the background. Anyhow, on the C64 there were two 'stretch bits', one for the horizontal and one for the vertical. Setting the corresponding bit would double the sprite in that direction (at no performance cost AFAIK but don't quote me on that)

I guess they used width-stretching to get the kick to really 'pop'.

They could perhaps have made the wheel and leg separate sprites, but you only have access to a limited number of sprites at the same time (raster tricks notwithstanding) and that game wasn't exactly pushing any limits.

I enjoy watching Jeff play computer games.

Dungeon of the Endless is great I hope the crew takes time to play more of it in the future.

I remember driving home on the freeway past Disneyland when their fireworks display was going on. I thought it was pretty cool I could see the fireworks and was sort of enjoying them. That is, until 30 seconds later when the shock waves were shaking my car and I had to jerk the wheel to remain in my lane. That was pretty frightening

Why is it that so many Japanese games use the same fonts and UI design? Is it just laziness?

I also want to say that I love Jeff solo streams. They're so depressingly laid-back and relaxing. They also have a nice crude, hacked together quality to them.
It's nice to see him play random games, many of which I haven't seen before.

Double Pacman is not as good as PacmanPacmanPacman, but it'll do.

I really like Death Skid Marks, but I haven't been able to get past the first bosses you fight. Quite frustrating, guess I just need to look up a vid.

Almost done with this stream and what a fucking disappointment. Jeff and Rorie were being cynical depressing assholes through the whole thing. Not only that but the all the QL's that day (26th) were also incredibly cynical. It's like you've all been told you're getting shutdown or something. What a way to shatter my spirit I usually muster up here towards Christmas, this recent content has been dreadful. I'm hoping that there's some reason why lately you've all been so crabby and hopefully it clears up soon because I'm one cynical motherfucker and it's even getting to me at this point.

Holy shit the kickman music is a thing of nightmares. Think of coming home to your house without lights on with that shit blasting. I would call the police.

@7x_: Which Quick Looks were overly cynical? I think the two from that day were 'Geometry Wars 3' and 'Rollers of the Realm.' With the former, Jeff and Dan seemed skeptical of the game, if anything, which is a logical reaction considering the change in developer. With 'Rollers,' Jeff just didn't seem to think the premise -- a pinball-based RPG -- could sustain a game.

Hold the FUCK UP. Rorie got a million points without dying? There needs to be a breaking brad revisit of Geometry Wars.
