Double Fine will be bought and this will be the shite that Microsoft forces them to pump out for the Kinect.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I sincerely hope we're both wrong, but considering how MS bought Twisted Pixel recently, and they've put BOTH Rare and Twisted Pixel to work exclusively for Kinect stuff, I fear we're probably right:( I mean c'mon - MS nixed all their first and second party studios besides Rare. All they seem to want now are studios who can pump out Kinect games. This does not bode well for Double Fine.

So Double Fine realised what makes Kinect great and decided to make a "game" based on that.

So Doublefine is making LSD: The Game?

I know people are taking a shit all over this, but this isn't meant for us. So I'm not going to crap down their throats over it. I'm not bothered by it.

I think I played this as a tech demo for motion games at EPCOT in 1995.

Damn everyone who didn't buy Brutal Legend! THAT GAME WAS SO GOOD, I WANT MORE.

Well, that's a shame. Was interested to see where Double Fine were gonna go, but this is completely the wrong direction for me.

Double Fine has produced an action/adventure platformer set in the minds of crazy people, a action/adventure/RTS hybrid in a world of heavy metal, a classic-JRPG-style adventure about some kids on Halloween, an old-school puzzle based adventure about Matryoshka dolls in the industrial revolution, an action/tower defense hybrid about mechanized mobile trench systems, a Kinect-based Sesame Street interactive storybook for very young children, and now apparently some kind of insane collection of Kinect-based toys or minigames or who the hell knows for children and maybe adults.

All this is to say that "where Double Fine is going to go" is "wherever the hell Double Fine wants to go", which just so happens to probably be every direction. All of them. All at the same time. Probably while doing cartwheels and moonwalking.

I won't buy this only because I won't buy a Kinect, but it looks to be about the only thing besides The Gunstringer to have a chance of being actually worth trying at the very least. Because the things Double Fine makes are wonderful, even when they are not great. Though for my money they have all been great too, so that makes things easier.

@SamFo: If it was made in Japan, it wouldn't be this. At the very least, the trailer wouldn't be this. And people would only be excited about the trailer, not the game. How many people buy those silly obscure Japanese games? Not many.

Even if it's for the kids, I don't think it's a great game. It seems be a toy whose gimmick will run out of steam within a few hours. This is the first trailer they've put out for it though, so it's possible there'll be some more stuff going on that will bring people (kids) back to the game. Maybe.

Even if this isn't some people's style, remember when DF had four drastically different styles of games in production at practically the same time in Costume Quest, Stacking, Trenched, and Sesame Street? That even if some of those were not for you, the others might have been? I have inklings that the bag of things DF is pulling all these ideas out of is far from empty.

I get that Kinect hate is a thing, but I'm not sure how you can see interactive floor lava and fireworks exploding from high-fives without your inner child letting a "sqeeeee" out. If you're going to argue about something after watching this video, argue about whether it's going to be a game or just a weird interactive video thing. Saying you'd rather be playing a HD version of a 20-year-old adventure game just makes you sound like one of those grumpy old bastards who's running out the clock by bitching about post-Falcon 3.0 flight sims all being terrible.

I'm no fan of Kinect either, but some of those lighting effects were genuinely impressive. If those effects going off the bodies in the firework sequence are done in real time, that's pretty significant.

If not, then at least it will be decent Quick Look fodder.

Fully.

Different gamers, different ages, different tastes. If this has a market, then by all means. In the days of $60.00 PC releases/PREORDER codes-exclusive purchases/DLC/season passes/skins, catering to a particular market demographic seems hardly outrageous.

Also: This game is whack, yo.

Wow, a retail Kinect game that's actually just that: A Kinect game. No half-assed "would be better with a controller" stuff, either!

Clearly for kids, but hey - it might be fun.

If you read the video description its actually a downloadable game.

This makes Kinect Fun Labs look like Gameroom.

The kind of experiences people should be making with Kinect. Lots of AR stuff, made for laughs, and makes moving fun. I'm sure kids will love it, and that's what's good about it.

@Methodis: I don't agree with you that double fine games are mediocre, I don't think this game is especially interesting. Mini-game collections aren't really my thing. Neither are sesame street games...I really hope they change this kid oriented direction soon.

A couple of those looked interesting, like playing a monster crushing buildings, it looks great for giving to the small kids int he family to pass the time, especially over the holidays when the parents are still eating dinner.
