    Overview

Wakusei Woodstock: Funky Horror Band ("Planet Woodstock: Funky Horror Band") is a turn-based RPG exclusive to the Japanese Mega-CD. It features Funky Horror Band in supporting roles: a group of stop-motion puppets created by Victor Musical Industries that appeared in music videos and released a few albums. After crash landing their ship on the remote planet of Woodstock, it's up to the player-named protagonist to help them out.

While the gameplay follows a traditional turn-based format typical of Dragon Quest and other JRPGs of the era, mechanics and visuals have been tweaked to suit the musical theme. Characters attack using melodies, collect treasure from instrument cases, and encounter enemies with names that pun on well known international acts, like "Juice Priest" (a valkyrie holding a glass of juice).

Taking advantage of the new capabilities of the CD format, the game features redbook audio music and voice acting from Funky Horror Band. The intro cinematic to the game is scored to a special game-exclusive version of their song Poseidon, with other tracks appearing throughout the game. Wakusei Woodstock was published by Sega, their first for the Mega-CD platform, and developed by an unknown contract developer.
