Good, but feels a bit too short

Wario Land 4 is quite different to its predecessors (Wario Land 1, 2 and 3), because its definitely a shorter game than the last 3, and this time, Wario has a health meter instead of either being unkillable (Wario Land 2 and 3), or killable as Small Wario (Wario Land 1)

    Graphics 4.5/5
Good for Game Boy Advance quality, and despite being a 2D sidescroller, there is definitely a lot of detail in some levels. Although some of the levels look a bit plain, a few others look really good.

    Gameplay 3.5/5
The gameplay in Wario Land 4 is quite different to 2 and 3. Instead of exploring levels to find the exit, fight a boss or to find secret items, you rush through them looking for 4 parts of a symbol that will help open the door to the area's boss, and to find the key that will help you access the next zone.

You explore the level, until you find a switch that will open the portal to exit the level. However, once that switch is pressed, there is a time limit to exit else be thrown out of the level having lost all of your stuff. This means you have to rush all the way back to the exit.

The gameplay is quite fun, although boss wise, that is a bit different. Some of the bosses are quite annoying to fight, and unless you play minigames to earn more coins to buy a weapon to lower the health of the boss at the start, it can take a bit of time to finish the boss.

Apart from going through each zone, and defeating each boss to unlock the final zone and the final boss, there isn't really much else to do. You can search through each zone collecting records which you can play later, but there are a total of 16 to collect, and apart from that, there aren't really any secret levels. However, you can unlock harder difficulties, which the highest can start you at 1 health, and give you a stricter time limit to finish a boss or exit a level.

The main game doesn't take long to complete, but there is some replay value.

    Music/Voices 4/5

The music in Wario Land 4 is pretty good, and you can unlock records of some songs, or even ingame songs which can be played later in the music room. Each level has different music, and even despite there only being about 17 levels, there is plenty of music in the game

    Lifespan 3/5

Although the game doesn't have many unlockables, and is quite short, there is replay value in playing on a higher difficulty, and unlocking everything in the game.

Other reviews for Wario Land 4 (Game Boy Advance)

      A kick ass 2D platformer 0

Wario Land 4 is everything you could possibly want from a platformer. The graphics are clean and pretty, the gameplay is tight, and the level design is unlike anything before it. While many might pass this game up thinking its just a mario knockoff this could not be further from the truth. In a 2D mario platformer the levels are very linear and in Wario Land 4 they have an extremly open, go out and explore feel. Each level is very different from the next, so the game never feels reptetive. Wario...
