A popular weapon that is used in many shooters. The flamethrower is considered one of the most unique ways to defeat a foe.
An explosive ordinance propelled by a rocket engine designed to blow an object to smithereens. A missile is often guided, in some way, to its target. For example; by laser, remote control, or computer/GPS.
A tank is generally a heavily armoured and armed, tracked vehicle designed to be at the front of a combined forces attack.
A bomb is an explosive device.
A Gatling gun is a machine gun that uses multiple rotating barrels to rapidly fire bullets. Commonly mounted on vehicles or gunships, some larger characters may carry a hand held version.
From an item container in Final Fight, to Roper's favorite weapon in Double Dragon, and even an obstacle in Street Fighter II's elusive bonus round, the barrel is one multi-faceted game object.
Machine guns, generally, are heavier weapons with a rapid rate of fire. To quote the Quake manual, they "eat ammo like popcorn."
A dropship usually refers to a ship that ferries troops, heavy armor, and supplies from carriers in orbit to a planet's surface. Sometimes it refers to any futuristic in-atmosphere transport that is not a helicopter or airplane.
The hovertank is a highly mobile, heavily armored, direct fire weapons platform that floats by means unknown. Often capable of 'strafing' and crossing water.
A vertical take-off and landing vehicle is essentially the combination of a helicopter and a jet. A VTOL can lift off vertically and can still achieve high velocities.
