    Wii

    Platform »

The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

I'm thinking of getting a new Wii for Christmas, but I'd like some opinions first before I buy anything.

I can either get the old Wii, which comes with Mario Kart and costs about $180, or the new one which costs less but lacks backwards compatibility. I already own a Gamecube, so the only reason I'd like BC is so I can use my GC controllers.

So, what's your take on this GB? Should I shell out a few extra bucks for a nicer console, or is the new Wii good enough?

It really depends on how much you play your Gamecube games. If you still play them fairly often, I'd say get the Wii with backwards compatibility so you don't have an extra console hooked up to the TV. If you don't, there's not much reason to get the older Wii model.

The new one comes with motion los i believe and you need that for zelda. If you don't want to play zelda than go for the least expensive one

I think I'll just go with the cheapest option available.

@FancySoapsMan: How much do you want to be able to play your GC games on your Wii?

Why do you want a Wii anyway :P?

Same thing happened with me and Ps3, I didn't know that the 120GB or whatever one I have lacks backwards compatibility. Was really bummed out.

I will not help you for a fee.

I will not help you just for free.

I will not help you with what I can.

I will not help you FancySoapsMan.

(Get the old one, methinks. There are still those WiiSportsResort/Wii Sports bundles out there that I've seen around my house. For BC & the use of GC controllers, why not?)

    This.

Its not worth buying a Wii for the handful of games worth playing, as my fiancee and I quickly realised.

Yep this. It seems silly to use an actual Wii when you can play everything at a higher quality on Dolphin.
