Development History
X2 and his story were originally intended for the planned Star Wars Battlefront 3, a sequel to the 2005 game Star Wars Battlefront II. However, that game would ultimately be cancelled. Despite this, X2 and the other characters and elements from the game would still enter Star Wars Legends canon, as they would be used in the handheld spin-off game Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron.
Character Biography
X2 and his "brother" X1 were clones of the Jedi Falon Grey made by the Kaminoans after Falon visited the planet. They were made trainers and leaders of the Clone Army leading up to and during the Clone Wars. The brothers served under the Jedi Master Ferroda until a mission to Cato Neimoidia, when Order 66 was issued. While X1, who hated the Jedi, enthusiastically carried out the order, X2 was far more conflicted, and later deserted the Empire completely when X1 ordered a village on Dantooine destroyed. While on Dantooine, X2 met Falon Grey, learning his origins. Falon was killed by X1, who used the last of his strength to heal X2, who had also been mortally wounded.
Afterwards, X2 lived a humble and solitary existence on Dantooine as a farmer before being recruited by Rahm Kota, Falon Grey's former Jedi Master. X2 then joined the Rebel Alliance, forming and leading Grey Squadron and participating in many of the Rebel's biggest battles, including Yavin, Hoth, and Endor. After the latter and the rise of the New Republic, X2, who had inherited the real Falon Grey's force-sensitivity, began to be trained in the ways of the Jedi by Luke Skywalker.
