Im happy, my xbox 360 (launch console) is the on brink of death and have had it repaired before. So i will pick one of these up...it looks badass as well.

Yeah, that. You can't really be that mad about this. Past years should have shown you that most price drops and hardware news are targeted to happen for E3 or other major events. Just return and wait to get a new one or ask if you can get pricematched.
Let this be a lesson to you: Don't buy a gaming console a week and a half before the Microsoft press conference at E3 when they were rumored to announce a redesign of the 360.
It's like a buying an iPhone 2 weeks ago. Sorry, but you have no one to blame but yourself.
I sure hope they have some sort of data transfer solution for people that already have a 360 and want to get the new model(s). I'd be down with a new 360 so long as it actually is "whisper quite", we'll have to see about that one.
@fisher81: You should still be able to return it. Best Buy gives you like a month to return something for any reason (except games obviously), EB probably gives you a a couple weeks? Try returning it.
I sympathise with your situation but buying a new Xbox just before E3 was not the best time to purchase. Especially when the Slim rumours have been running for so long.
Try and get you money back at the store or ask for an exchange for the new console.
I figured I'd be in the clear with all of the rumors that Natal/Kinect would be bundled with a new console. I figured a new console wouldnt be coming until November. But, nope.
If you bought if from a Wal*Mart you can buy the new one when it comes out pop the old 360 in the new box and return it as incompatible. 9 times out of 10 they don't even bother to look inside or anything that would give it away. Just make sure they aren't lifers though, those people care and will check. Try and get a summer temp-type worker and problem solved.
Its a pain but manufacturer's know they have to swap from one model to the next really quick. If they announce weeks or months ahead of time then no one will purchase the current unit, in favour of getting the new one. It sucks for the individuals buying the current console so close to the release of the new model but that's business I guess. You never know, the new model might have problems anyway so it might be worth waiting and seeing how things pan out even though a silent running 360 is very tempting.

No offense but buying one this close to E3 is just goofy. You just fucked up. Even if it didn't release today, announcing its existence would cause current 360s to depreciate in value. Pretty sure this one is on you. Don't know what you were thinking but its your fault.
@fisher81: Shit man, that sucks. Sadly I actually think the slim looks pretty damn nice, but I have a Xbox pro (2nd one :-/ MS is still in the lead with one less broken console over Sony for me thou) 20 gig drive with only 14-16 gigs even usable is getting to be a pain. So least you have an elite. Sure it was BS marketing reasons/when info can be released but some warning on that would have been nice.
Anyone who buys a console within 2-3 monhts before E3 is insane.
I think an arcade is a better value than wireless and the HDD for an extra 100$, i would never use the wireless for any real gaming and usb works fine.
