So the GB Endurance Run got me into buying the game when it was on sale on Amazon. holy crap, it's so weird. it's definitely a bit creepier without the funny commentary from the GB guys.

I don't know where this "awful game" stuff is coming from. I beat the game not too long ago and despite being hokey in a few spots, it's by far one of the most memorable games I've ever played. Even now there's this... empty void in me that still wants to be filled with me playing the game. I can understand those looking at it strictly from a "it's a game" point of view but man... the amount of fun, weirdness and attachment to the characters you get out of it... Game is somethin' else, that's for sure.

Are the controls as bad as they look in the videos?
 
I would never purchase this, but I'm having a great time watching the Endurance Runs.

I have no desire to play this, but the Endurance Run has given me a few good laughs.

Want a PAL release so much.

I just beat the game.  This game has some amazing high points, and some pretty bad low points.  Unfortunately nearly all of the low points happen in the first 6-7 hours of the game.  There is a MASSIVE hump to get over at the beginning of the game.  From the game not explaining how cigarettes work, flares work, to the horrid controls, to the lumbermill (at LEAST 2x longer than it should have been) to the terrible map and lack of waypoints.  
 
That said, I hit this magical wall right around the start of the theater section, where I really started loving the game.  I'd say almost everything from the theater on was enjoyable.  Yeah, the game is silly, low budget, b movie material, but it's still really fun.  Some of the character development is terrible, yet some of it is quite good, and better than 95% of the games out there.  
 
For me, it was well worth playing, and I enjoyed it almost as much as Heavy Rain.  Clearly Heavy Rain is infinitely more polished, but I didn't love any of the characters in the same way that I started loving some of the DP characters.  I don't think you really get a great feel for how endearing they are from the endurance run.  Don't get me wrong, I'm liking the endurance run, but it's hard to take it all in that format when everything is being laughed at.  
 
I'd give it 7/10 or so, and it's a great buy for $20.  Just be prepared for that first 6-7 hours being kind of rough, boring at times, and frustrating at other times.  If you're the type that can deal with a scenario like that, then definitely give it a shot.  If you can't, then do not waste your money.

^Agree. The early parts actually get better in multiple playthroughs since you know what to do.  I'd prolly give it an 8/10. 
 
Great experience.

I have to wait til I get paid next to pick it up, but I've been convinced by the Endurance Run that I need to experience this for myself.  In the meantime I'm finally getting around to finishing Twin Peaks hah.
