So, I've been thinking about getting an HDMI cable for my 360, and after some research I've been wondering if it'll really make a difference.  Here's what I have so far:

-An Xbox 360 played on a 1080p HDTV with component cables.
-Apparently, there was an Xbox Live update that made the component cables fully capable of 1080p instead of 1080i?  I don't have XBL though, so don't have this update if it happened.

So yeah, there's my dilemma...does anyone have experience with this?  I'd really appreciate any feedback you could provide.  Thanks!

You don't need HDMI but the cables are so cheap (online anyway) and if your tv supports it why wouldn't you use it!?  You will see a difference but it won't be Huge!  Also, If you use your 360 as a DVD player you will need HDMI (or VGA) to do DVD upconversion.

That's true...I'm looking at one that's under five dollars, which is pretty nice.  That's definitely persuading me.  :P

Oh!  One more thing.  If you get your cable online go to Monoprice.com or bluejeanscable.com.  They have outstanding cables and they are super cheap.  I've used both so I can vouche for those two.

Yeah, I actually heard about the Monoprice cables on one of the podcasts.  It was a while ago though, but I'm finally making it happen.  Thanks for the help!  :D

Not to mention you only have to fuss with one plug in... not 5.

To heck with HDMI, get your 360 online with Live.  Even if it's just a Silver account you still get access to tons of cool stuff.  That's crazy.

HDMI > Component, however VGA = HDMI.

Is there really a big difference in picture between VGA and component? I have a VGA port on my TV and VGA for my 360, but for whatever reason I have it hooked up with component. If it actually is better picture I will probably switch though.

Its not huge by any standards, but it's noticable. Generally speaking VGA colours < Component colours and VGA sharpness/quality > Component sharpness/quality.
Still depends on the type/size of your TV, though.
