I've had my Xbox over 13 months, during that time I have had it on for about 5 hours a day average, most weekends 8 hours. I use a stand. Works lovely.
I think Microsoft used iron for the heat sinks. most of problems come from GPU overhaeting and GPU overheats because of its heat sinks. it's better to play less than 2 hours, then turn it off for a while for heat sinks to cool down, but your disk drive will be weakened during months. buy a new console if you ask me, Liteon drives are better than samsung and benq. your console will probably work until the 8th generation.
