Ripping music to 360

#1 Posted by Vlademir (1029 posts) -

Well today I connected my MP3 player to my 360 and found out that I could only stream music and not save music to my console's harddrive. I found out that I can only save music to my 360 either from my PC or from a CD. I don't have the media center version of XP so I'm going the CD route. I'm just wondering, would I be able to just burn a CD of the songs I want an rip them to my 360 or will I need to use the original CD's? It's not a big deal if I need to use the original CD's but it would be more convenient just to burn the exact songs that I want and then rip them from a burnt CD.

You can burn individual songs to a CD (e.g. a "mix tape"), I've done it before. Original CDs obviously also work.

So the 360 will read the disc and allow me to rip songs from a burnt CD? I wasn't sure if they put some kind of copy protection lock on it or something.

You'll just have to manually input song info.

Yeah, it only rips songs from CDs, nothing else.

Okay, Thanks. :)

If you have a PC, you ought to just install & use TVersity (it's free) instead. It can read your entire library. It plays the songs over the stream while you play your games as well. I use it so I know it works.  It's better than crowding the 360 drive, imo.

i had some songs in my pro(20GB) and none on my ELITE(120GB) for some reason

I wish in the update they would let you put MP3's on 360 but whatever. I will just use the old format CD"s or not put stuff on harddrive

um why not just keep your MP3 IN the 360????? still if you insist why not just set up a mdeia connetion then you can stream your entire computer's multimedia stuff from your 360 without actually moving it

You don't even need Tversity.  if you have WinXP with WMP11 it will stream video and audio files to the 360!

You probably just don't have WMP11 set up to share files with the 360.

The only way to get music on your 360 hdd is to get a licensed CD and rip it to your 360 hdd.

Stick to streaming if I were you.

I really wish the iPods were still compatible with the 360.  I was really flustered after Apple nullified that whole loophole.

I mean, seriously.  How stingy can you get?

I used to rip CD's to my 360 before I got my new cellphone with 8 GB of storage. One thing to note is that if you want to get information like titles and artists automatically from Xbox Live, you need to have exactly the same on the CD-R/W as on the real album. It usually works, but sometimes it don't. Just keep that in mind.

My iPod works fine with my 360, I think it's just the Touch that's incompatible.
