I always knew this would come to consoles eventually, but it's nice to have some confirmation! And within the same year too, though for some reason XCOM 2 feels as if it came out a decade ago rather than a handful of months.
I think they always said they were going to add controller support at some point on pc just never said when. I should really get back into that as after failing my first campaign i kinda lost steam towards the end of my second and stopped playing, played really well with a steam controller btw.
PC controller support is key. I've been waiting for them to patch it in before I do a second playthrough. I'm curious if Firaxis is planning any sort of expansion similar to Enemy Within. Any news on that?
@darth_navster: They haven't announced anything yet. But it took them a good 9 or 10 months after the release of Enemy Unknown to announce the expnasion for that game.
This always seemed inevitable, surprised they kept up the exclusivity fiction this long, honestly. Hopefully the PC version will drop in price around the same time! Always seemed like a game that would be best in a collected edition with DLC packed in after all the launch bugs.
Figured this would be happening soon or later, still glad it's finally making it's way over. I can see myself grabbing this in the early months of 2017 for maybe a cheaper price and getting into it.
I loved playing Enemy Within on the 360 so I'm looking forward to this, probably going for the PS4 version. Don't need to upgrade my PC just yet; I can wait until the new consoles come out to do that.
Did it sell well? Like @nightriff mentioned I feel like there was a real fervor for that game for exactly one week when it was released and then no one talked about it anymore. During that week I did hear a lot of mixed views with some really loving the changes and increased pressure while others having the complete opposite reaction.
Cautiously optimistic. The last game didn't run super well on consoles, and given that even the PC version was buggy this time around I'm wary, but I would still like to play it.
It's a real bummer that this game fell off the radar.
I disagreed with the GB take. Despite its technical messiness, it's one of the most satisfying strategy games I've ever played, and it evolves the formula of the first game in really neat ways. Hopefully the console release has less jank, and more people get to experience the joy of losing an entire squad to a panic cascade exactly 2 action points from a time-limited objective.
I secretly hope that it returns to form and that the gang circle back to it around GOTY time. Maybe it'll sneak in at 9 or 10...
XCom 2 minus bugs is a legit Game of the Year contender (maybe not with GB of course). So hopefully it will come out in a technically sound state come for consoles.
Within five to six weeks of release, the most of the game's bugs had been fixed via a series of patches. I don't know how well it will end up running on consoles overall though as it was a big of a resource hog.
