    Zangan first appears in Final Fantasy VII during a flashback into Cloud's past.  He is a martial arts master who teaches Tifa how to fight.
     
    During Sephiroth's rampage in Nibelheim, Zangan tries to save people from the flames engulfing the town.  After Tifa confronts and is injured by Sephiroth on Mt. Nibel, Zangan carries her to safety.
     
    The next and last time Zangan is mentioned in Final Fantasy VII is when Cloud play's Tifa's piano and finds a letter from Zangan to Tifa from years earlier.  This letter also contains Tifa's final Limit Break, "Final Heaven."
