    Alden was originally supposed to be the heir to the First Sons until his father, Richard Tate, was overthrown as leader of the First Sons by Kessler, leaving Alden homeless. When the ray sphere went off in Empire City, Alden found his chance to gather the homeless people of the Warren district and form his gang, the Dust Men. Later, Cole confronts Alden to take the ray sphere, but it gets taken by Kessler with the help of Zeke. Cole fights again against Alden on the bridge connecting to the Historic district and wins. Cole grabs Alden but Alden jumps off the bridge when Cole is distracted. It is unconfirmed if Alden survived the fall but Cole believes he could have.
