@beardduder: @majormitch: Wow, sorry, didn't see that I got any comments on this until now! Thanks! Yeah, it's a shame Talos didn't get more buzz, it was really good!
The achievements are heavily bugged. Of the 29 I have 5 of them are things I have not done. I had even more I obviously had not done, so they must have done a pass removing them somehow. So I can easily see some people not getting achievements as well.
The drop to "Mixed" on Steam is mostly due to the server issues, especially in Europe. I bought the cheapest Founders Pack to play it three days early, and even then the servers where classified as "busy". The day it was supposed to come out for everyone something went wrong, so it was several hours delayed. And it has only gotten worse from there. Queues of several thousand people trying to get in, resulting in hours of waiting. If you even get put in a queue. The past days the game just gave an error message when trying to play in the evening. Right now there are 19 European servers, so I think they have added some. But they have said they have to add an entire new region to alleviate the crush of people. Which will take a while, and anyone who wants to move to a new server have to start over again.
The game is fun, but it is less a Diablo and more of an MMO. It's one of those games that "starts when you reach level 50". I'm not there yet, as I have barely gotten into the game this week. Fun enough to play waiting for Elden Ring, but I'll probably never see much of the true end-game content. The chat in-game is of course rife with misogyny, homophobia, transphobia and the works. The server I am on also have a "language war" every 15 minutes. Some people claim it is a german server so they should only speak german, some people get angry at the "spam" (ie. german) and gets really vocal about only wanting to see english. It is so stupid, and makes me glad I play even MMOs solo.
So what I wanted to get to was; don't take the "mixed" reviews as gospel, the game itself is fun if you like MMO-style games with Diablo-style combat. If you get to play it.
Are there any Loki spoilers in this one? My fiancé and I are watching through all of MCU again in release order, and we are only up to Civil War. Quite a while before we get to Loki, and have managed to stay spoiler free this far.
On Biomutant: I am 16 hours in and having a blast. Sure, there are things I don't like. Sound seems to be lacking here and there, cutscenes have a weird jarring feel at times and the combat can be hit and miss. More hit after I tried all the weapon types, just had to find a combo I liked (doing Crushing melee and rifle). The patch that just hit fixed a lot as well. Also, it helped the atmosphere a lot just switching the narrator to Japanese.
On Necromunda: This is just awesome. Having some micro stuttering, no crashes yet after three missions. My brother did have a crash though, but it seemed he got put right where he was when he restarted. Weapons are cool, the customization is fun and they sound just like I wanted them to. I bet it helps if you are a WH fan, but my brother is not and is also having a blast.
Both of these games have been all over the scale on reviews, but I am really glad I got both.
This was my Game of the Year until Outer Wilds showed up. I beat it five times. It has the best satisfying combat in any game I have played, if you actually take time to learn the timing and such that is. When you get into the flow it is so much fun. It's sad how most of the Crew didn't get into that flow, so it will be far down the list come GOTY-time.
As someone who thinks wrestling is stupid and boring, this was a great Quick Look! Bummer about no glitches, but I think the reactions to the various messed up faces was gold, as well as the whole replay segment near the end.
That was the positive, now for the negative: Can we please get a "block" or "mute" button, because there are quite a few people commenting I would like to not see again. Hulk Hogan and Ronda Rousey can fuck off, and if you don't think that I really don't want to see anything else you think. There are enough assholes that run countries and companies that can't be ignored, so being able to ignore those that safely can be would be very nice.
