I really think Jojo`s Bizzare Adventure would be a good fit both for something Jeff and Dan would enjoy (especially Dan) and for them doing a show about it. It has a really good mix of dumb comedy and cool action that would make it a fun topic to discuss.

As others have said finding a thirty second long clip that can work without knowledge of the world or characters and that contains both the setup and the payoff is pretty much impossible, so this might end up just being a clip show of weird gags. Which could be funny, but not really a great way to see whether or not you would want to watch an anime.

Is there any Jojo clip that could convince them to watch it?

Jotaro beating up Dan of Steel and writing him a receipt is pretty great, but I think Jotaro Punches him for more than thirty seconds so you would have to start the clip in the middle of the beatdown which would probably ruin it a bit.

It would be a spoiler for the en of Part 3. but Dio throwing a road roller on Jotaro could also be a fun clip.

Remember Me definitely had some great art design and it had some interesting ideas, but the the dull gameplay and the sloppy and predictable story made me put the game down after a few hours.

I think it's worth a play through. Definitely a lot of stunning environments to see and the story has some moments, though quite sloppy.

The customizable combat system is a neat idea someone should flesh out.

God Hand (released before Remember Me) has a somewhat similar customizable combat system where you can choose the moves in your combos that (in my opinion) is both deeper and more fun to tinker with. It`s also combined a combat system that is a lot more fun and satisfying than the combat in Remember Me which helps to motivate you to engage with the system.

@odinsmana: They are likely talking about how his hair changes to white in the ending sequence. Which, while at the end, is still in the arc of the game and set him up to have a more familiar look in the sequel that never happened.

I had totally forgotten about that, but as you say I think it does more to set the stage for a sequel than it does for the character and story in that game, so I don`t know if it changed or would have changed the opinions of the people who played the game that did not like Dante`s design. I also don`t know if just adding white hair helps much without changing the other aspects of the design. Thanks for pointing out the hair change!

@TechnoSyndrome: I'm not knocking those people for not having played it. That's fine, it doesn't matter. But a lot of the arguments hinge around the character's attitude and his new look, both of which change over the course of the game. I'm knocking the people who stick their fingers in their ears and talk about how awful it is without actually putting in the time (gameplay, videos, whatever) to have an understanding of it.

It`s been a few years since I played DmC, but I don`t remember his look changing at all throughout that game. In the first level he wears a tank top and at one point a mop lands on his head for a second, so that it looks like he has white hair and he says something like "I am never doing that". After that his outfit and hair stays the same until the end of the game.

His personality changes a bit, but it`s not really much closer to old Dante and the writing and comedy in that game stayed bad throughout, so it dosen`t really help much.

DmC was my first Devil May Cry game and I enjoyed when I played in spite of the lame story and characters, but after going back to DMC 3 and 4 I ended up liking those quite a bit more and I definitely see where the fans were coming from when they reacted negatively to DmC (even though some people definitely overreacted. It is the internet after all).

This whole thing really reminds me of when Valve tried to roll out paid mods on steam (and to some degree a lot of new things Steam has tried to introduce in recent years). They try to make changes or ad something to steam, but they make big changes to steam in a slapdash and rash way without announcing beforehand what they are doing. When they the community and press justifiably pushes back Valve doe not try to find a good middle ground, but instead they drop the whole concept and completely wash their hands of it.

Having a way to let modders get paid for their work would be awesome, but Valve lacks the attentions span and ability to communicate with their consumers to actually create a solution that would make that possible in a good way. Similarly it would be nice if the steam store was actually curated and not filled to the brim with trash, but because people pushed back when Valve made a rash and poorly thought out move towards that they decided to take their ball and go home instead of actually finding a good solution to the problem. Steam has really started to feel more like a lazy student project rather than a store run by a multi-billion company in recent years.

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only bore(dom)?

Just give me a goddamn Eisenhorn game.

They did actually make an Eisenhorn game. From what I heard it`s pretty bad, but coincidentally it`s on sale for 3 bucks right now, so if you`re a big fan of Eisenhorn and want to check it out it might be worth it. https://store.steampowered.com/app/373920/Eisenhorn_XENOS/

Not to hijack the thread, but I know this is a direct sequel to the first game and the first doesn't seem to be coming to Switch. So would I be fine without playing the first or should I just forget about snagging it for Switch at all?

I haven`t played it, but Pat from the Super Best Friends that in hidden in the option section of the game it allows you can choose what decisions you made in the first game and basically create a fake save file from the first game that you can then import into Deadfire.

It's not really that hidden, it's right in the options screen. But if you don't do it, when you go through character creation there are some preset options for how you handled the events of the first game. It's handled pretty well I think.

OK, thanks for the clarification. By hidden I guess he just meant in the option screen and not at that start of the game, but honestly that seems like a smart decision. I lost my save file from the original game, so I really appreciate the ability to simulate a save file from that game. Without that ability I would maybe not pick this game up since I was pretty mixed on the first game. With that though I will definitely get this at some point.

@briarpack: The fact that she didn't get stunlocked and that I still took full damage while in that mode is kinda ridiculous, as is taking damage during runic animations.

I really don`t see why taking damage during runic attacks is ridiculous. It just means you have to wait for an opportunity to use them instead of just spamming them as soon as they recharge which in my opinion at least makes them an interesting tool instead of just a crutch.

I feel some people hold the grade a critic gives a game out of a certain scale a lot higher that what that person actually said about the game. This is made even more of an issue with what people perceive to be a "bad" score with 6-7/10 often seen as not good enough even if the reviewer has praised certain elements of the game in the review but overall felt the game deserved that score. I don't include a score when I've reviewed games because I don't want people to take two scores from separate games that don't have much if anything in common and then ask me why one is better than the other.

To be fair to the consumer I think the problem with people thinking that 6/10 games are bad is mostly the fault of reviewers. Reviewers that use the 10 point scale almost never use the lower half of that scale and when pretty much no games are below a 5 I think it becomes natural for readers to think of 5 as a bad score.

It`s part of the reason why I vastly prefer the 5 star system that GB uses. There are not too few and not too many point which means that every star has a clear definition: 1- terrible, 2 - bad, 3 - OK, 4 - Good and 5 - Amazing. Because of this the whole scale is actually used and the different points don`t lose their meaning.
