I've been a huge fan of the series ever since a buddy and I got our hands on Resident Evil 2 in secret, and locked ourselves in his bedroom to try and fumble our way through the game without a memory card. The intertwining stories were kind of mind-blowing for my pre-teen brain -- did you all notice that the walkway railing is missing in Leon A because Birkin breaks it off in Claire B!? Crazy stuff!

I really liked Resident Evil Village. The game effectively draws from different eras in the series' history, and brings everything together in a way that pulls of Big Dumb Gameâ„¢ in a way that Resident Evil 5 failed.

That said, I think this first-person era should be over now. I just don't think there's much left to explore there. And I felt that the RE2 remake was nearly a perfect take on what Resident Evil should be. I'd prefer to see it refined just a little more.

I got a question read by Ryan during a Bombcast in July 2012. Will forever be proud.

This is an interesting discussion since I just noticed Ben's title in today's newsletter: Editor-in-Chief

This raised some red flags for me re: Jeff.

That said, if Jeff left Giant Bomb, I have a sneaking suspicion he would still be on the podcast.

Sometimes I really wish they would do it. It would give more meaning/gamer cred to, say, collecting all 900 Korok Seeds in Breath of the Wild in a save I could potentially lose one day. But, I think overall I'm totally fine without it. It makes me play through games for the sake of enjoying the gameplay. And I've gone back to ignoring side content that I don't find compelling, because there's nothing in it for me.

Then again, sometimes I gravitate toward PS4 games just so I can pump up my nerd cred points. It's just a psychology I need to break away from.

If you have a 4K HDR television and disposable income, I'd say go ahead. I don't regret buying mine. Horizon: Zero Dawn in particular looks beautiful to me.

I loved Home Alone for the Sega Genesis. I can't say how the game was received overall, but looking back on it, it probably wasn't very good. We rented the game more times than I can count from this local movie store across the street from our house. They finally bought it for me from a K-Mart later on.

I guess very young me identified with playing a child putting some adult burglars through the ringer.

It looks like the Ryan Davis "Power" video was hit by a DMC takedown notice over on YouTube. Does anyone happen to have a mirror or local copy of this? It is such a fitting post-mortem tribute to Ryan. It's really a shame if it is gone for good.

I can't stand it when people smoke around me. It especially frustrates me when smokers hang out right next to a doorway I have to walk through. Hate it.
