John Carpenter has an odd affinity towards Borderlands that I wouldn't have expected

I think he means Murdered: Soul Suspect.

It's always interesting to see what games he liked in the year. It's always completely unexpected- much like his movies in a way.

This is my list!

I would totally play all the borderlands with john carpenter. Also he is from my home town which is crazy

Alright Hollywood producers, throw him a couple million and have him make a movie called "John Carpenter's Murdered"

Easy profit.

Also, he dropped he's dropping a fucking sweet album of new instrumentals this next year. Check it out!

I think I may disagree with Alex's point of it being more interesting to hear how a top games of the year list are reached, in this case.

Now I can ask people, Q: what do John Carpenter and I have in common?

A: We both have AC Unity as our favorite games of 2014.

And we're likely the only ones.

I see the Far Cry 4 loading issues came with an uncharacteristic rant. I've noticed it too, at times. It does take a bit long, even on PC.

John carpenter is a trip, an icon of personal history for me. My wife when she was alive loved his movies, also.

@nightriff: It would have to be the same guy running his Twitter account, I can recall him tweeting about playing both Borderlands and Far Cry in the last few months.

You can't hate a man who gets straight to the point. Love this guy's movies. I'm surprised he sends a list, but I guess he digs the notion that someone wants his opinion on something outside of movies.

I must admit Far Cry 4 is probably my 2nd favorite FPS this year behind Wolfenstein: New Order. My guess for his AC: Unity pick has to be for the tech side of it. When it works at least.

I like how you mention those films, when his most popular film and probably well recognized is Halloween (my favorite is The Thing, but Halloween is the one I think deserves the most recognition, even though it's not my kind of movie.) As for the list... Hm. I wonder if he played Alien Isolation.

Glad to see Murdered: Soul Suspect on this list. That game looked like it had a lot of problems (a lot!) but its heart was in the right place.

I thought Unity was great, never had any problems with it performance wise... I guess that is what you get when you have a good PC and not a console running at at 15FPS....

We need Uwe Boll next year, while Carpenter is a man of few words, Uwe likes to ramble on forever.

That's a John Carpenter list alright! Surprised by his No.1, but the others are in line with what I was expecting. Still waiting for the inevitable PS4/XB1 port for The Pre-Sequel.

Unity changed a lot of stuff from 4. Most of it was for the worse but it was significantly different.

Cool. So apparently it was me and John Carpenter who liked Unity. I'll take it. That game's pretty good.
