The Best StarCraft II Tandem Move So Far

Vortex plus nuke equals one whole army erased from the map.

I've never been particularly good at multiplayer real-time strategy games, nor have I played the original StarCraft since last century. Regardless, I'm thinking way too much about StarCraft II these days, from watching pro-game YouTube replays, to learning terms like "timing push" and "eight pool," to getting myself stomped into the ground repeatedly on the 1v1 ladder (busted down to copper tier since the database reset, ouch).

But nowhere in all my games played, matches spectated, and strategies researched have I seen something this singularly embarrassing, hilarious, and awesome.

If you're not up on your StarCraft II, the Protoss player's mothership traps most of the entire opposing army with its vortex move, which apparently has a duration just about as long as the Terran ghost's nuke calldown. Units pop out of the vortex, nuke comes down... goodbye opposing army. Whether this was staged or not, the timing and the visual effect are pretty impressive.

Up to now, I've spent almost no time playing matches with a teammate, but seeing stuff like this sure makes me want to start. Hey... anybody down for some 2v2?

Anybody else who's in the beta, what kind of ridiculous strategies have you been seeing? What's your favorite faction so far? Tell me about your build orders. Your counters. Discus amongst yourselves. C'mon, feed my need.

Well, that was pretty ridiculous. I barely even remember to nuke let alone use em like that. Has anyone seen this?

He surrounds units in force fields and finishes them with psi storms. I'm trying to get better at using units in synergy like this. I've also seen the range researched for the colossus and using the force fields to counter roaches because of their short range. Block em out with force fields and the colossi melts face.

I do not understand Starcraft, nor most RTSes, but I am able appreciate the level of rape just witnessed.

Damn.

I've been playing Zerg 1 v 1s pretty much exclusively, I keep wanting to try one of the other races but it kills your record so badly - and is frankly really embarrassing - getting wooped by people who are for the most part specializing in one of the races.

For me the Zerg are still all about the hydralisks, especially against other Zerg players who seem to love Roaches for some reason and not realize that getting the Hydra counter in the early game isn't that hard. I was middle-highish rank in the silver league before the wipe and I haven't played much since. God damn am I looking forward to this game.

I've been watching a ton of replays on YouTube as well.  HDStarcraft's commentary is more entertaining than most television shows.  Watching high level, platinum league players duke it out is just really exciting to watch.
In the beta I find playing other people too stressful.  I'm not bad and I win my fair share of games (I've done my homework watching replays), but I'd much rather play against AI.

I've been watching HD Starcraft and Husky video's since the beta started. I've been anticipating this game for a long time. I actually taken alot from those video's and applied them to the origianl Starcraft and Broodwar. I just played through the original campaign and Broodwar again but it's much easier this time around. Does anyone have a SC2 invite? I would really like to put some time in the beta.

If anyone wants to watch some SC2 to actually learn something deeper about the game I really recomend Day9 Daily. Its pretty much only great players (there arent alot of professionals yet) and the analysis is incredible.

Thanks, I'll check it out, considering I've watched every HD Starcraft and Husky video!

Wow, that's amazing. It's a black screen with "this video has been removed" on it. Sweet.

It has been changed in one of the recent patches so that force fields are destroyed by votexes so you cannot crush an army in that way.
