The Community Spotlight 2023.08.12

There's entirely too much of this guy in this week's edition.

Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the best community creations from the previous week.

Once again, the staff and site apologizes that a scheduling issue has prevented Jeff Jarrett from being on the Bombcast Dump Truck. Nonetheless, rest assured that guest-related issues normally do not prevent the Dump Truck from airing every week.

The Giant Bomb Discord Moderation Team have announced that they wish for the community there to minimize and avoid openly mentioning certainly sexual body fluids in casual discussion and comments that make reference to this will be deleted. On the site and in the chat room, if you are responding to comments or words said by staff in real-time, you will not face moderation, but please use discretion when responding to threads, videos, or other community members.

Also on the Discord, Jeff Bakalar announced that the staff and engineers are aware of the issues related to Beastcast episodes not appearing or showing up on the podcast feed for the Beastcast. As such, he plans to save all the Beastcast episodes and have a feed refresh probably Monday.

Grubb and Mike started a new podcast on their Patreon where they go through every episode of Columbo. The first episode is available to Patron/Twitch Sub members, but will be made available for the general public a month later.

Tamoor is continuing his collaboration with Capcom USA where he gets training to be better at Street Fighter 6 through the likes of legendary names in the fighting game community. The next episode is set for Tuesday, August 15 at 3PM PT, and here's a link to the episode he recorded with Justin Wong.

User Reviews

@pauljeremiah's Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, LocoRoco Remastered, and Patapon Remastered! I recommend their Peace Walker review as it looks back at the last time we saw the Metal Gear Solid franchise go portable and attempts to see if any of its gameplay hooks or story surprises are worth a revisit!

This sure is a game that needs to be seen to be believed.
This sure is a game that needs to be seen to be believed.

@sbc515's reviews for Metal Gear (NES), Transformers: Convoy no Nazo, South Park Rally (N64), and Star Wars (Namco / NES). For those wondering why I had to put modifiers on the Star Wars review, this is the Japan-only Star Wars game by Namco where Luke's hair color is wrong and Darth Vader transforms into a scorpion.

EverQuest Next

What could've been?
What could've been?

It's been 10 years since EverQuest Next was revealed in grand fashion. A wild idea for a voxel-based MMORPG that had literal depth to the world. Development was canceled 3 years later for "not being fun enough" and no new entry in the franchise has been announced since. It's sad thinking about all the lore and work that went into it will never be seen, but there's a lot of games like that. Luckily, @marino has documented just about as much as possible about the game here on the site.
