How Babysitting Mama changed my life

Pong. Tetris. Super Mario Bros. Star Fox Adventures. When you hear the words “video game,” these are the games that come to mind. Well there is a new game out that will change the way we think about video games. A game that will no doubt enter the history books as one of the greatest games known to man. A game, called Babysitting Mama.

Now I came into possession of the game after a friend of mine, a GameStop employee brought this game home to mock. He doesn't understand true art, and at the time I too was naive and foolish. After he had his fun I decided to borrow it for a laugh. Little did I know that would be the most life-changing decision I would ever make.

This game puts you in the role of a care taker. The game doesn't give you a gun, or a magic wand, or a staff which you can use to fight anthropomorphic dinosaurs. It gives you a child. The miracle of life, inside your hands. You will then embark on a guided quest into both your evolution as a human, but more importantly the bond between child and care taker.

Through the guise of a video game you will learn the life skills necessary to nurture this child, and then and only then will you feel what I have felt. This game will make you a better person. At times the games will seem mundane and unresponsive and the voice acting will be callous and shrill, but do not let this fool you. You will also receive strict warnings about shaking the baby. Do not shake the baby, I cannot stress this enough, and neither can the game.

When I tell others about this game they laugh. They mock me. They are often confused and mildly horrified that I, a grown man, am playing this game. But like me and my friend they do not yet know the true art of Babysitting Mama, but I will make it my life's mission to make sure this game becomes known to the world. Take the child doll peripheral in your arms, but also let the game take you in it's arms, not unlike Fox and Krystal's sweet embrace at the end of Star Fox Adventures.
