Rock, Paper, Scissors, tank.
I picked up this game thinking it would be as fun as the old school 1942, and also based on pretty much every review I read. Then after playing through all the maps twice I came away disappointed that they didn't change much at all. The reduction of classes was a good start, but its still flawed. Everything is based off the chance that the class you picked will work in the situation that's presented to you. Except you don't know whats coming after you. If you picked infantry and a tank starts rolling in, your pretty much useless. If you picked the Anti tank class with a machine gun and a rifleman is attacking you from a distance you have no chance. And if you pick scout and a tank, plane, or if your team is losing and you have to move your essentially useless. Every class has its ups and downs, but the ups and downs are so drastic that if you just so happen to get caught in that situation you will die. How are you supposed to predict that there's a enemy hiding in a house waiting to jump into a tank. Or a enemy thats a rifleman and your advancing as a anti-tank. If you suicide to change your class you lose 10 points. So you can't just switch in case the situation changes. Planes aren't nearly as cheap as in 1942, but their still extremely useful. If good enough you can pretty much just dive bomb anything without penalty. Since the radar is so small you can't see anything coming, and if you want to see the entire map you have to pause it. This game is probably fun when you have an entire team coordinating together, talking, planning, and strategizing. But not everyone has 10-15 friends waiting to play Battlefield 1943. I really can't understand the overwhelming positive reaction towards this game.
