So everything I've read and seen of bulletstorm have me really really excited for the release of this game. It seems like it will have a very old-school feeling to it (away from realism and towards absolute insanity) The 'space marine' aspect could come across as played out but I'm thinking that this game is in the comic vein of Borderlands, with Unreal Esque styled graphics.
Borderlands had a bit of a slow burn on me. Some of that was the art style. But this game has me really excited. The whole creative killing feels like a throw back to the days of Solidier of Fortune and Insane Unreal weapons and of course the games that were the inspiration for Unreal. Makes me happy.
I also get a bit of a Far Cry 1 vibe looking at the structures and pathing. Which makes me happy.

Stylish, ludicrous kills net big points in this ridiculously over-the-top first-person shooter.
Anyone excited for BulletStorm?
yeah can't say i'm excited but that is just me, the game looks like a mix of borderlands and gear of war. I love me some borderlands but did not care for gears, this game is just not doing it for me i don't know why. Maybe it is a bit of shooter overkill now that there is a ton of them coming out.
Nope, i don't recall on what podcast, but they people who played it at TGS said it was kind of a one trick pony. Meaning the combo stuff you do pretty much boils down to, pull up in the air, reel in, kick, shoot. Rinse and repeat.
I'm more curious than excited really. It looks like it has some interesting features, but so far, I haven't seen anything that's knocked my socks off. Cliffy B knows his way around games though, so it should be worth a look, if nothing else. It's going to be one of those "wait and see" titles for me.
Very excited about this game. When I first heard about it, I was like..eh, but then I heard more about it and saw some gameplay.
It's definitely an over-the-top game, and doesn't take itself too seriously. I like that.
Curious about the multiplayer. I wonder if players will go for the creative kills, or just go for the normal kills.
It looks like People Can Fly cribbed as much as they could from Serious Sam and Painkiller (which of course they made) and then mixed it with a combo system and added AI escorts. The art style is very bland though. I can't say I'm overly excited.
Looks pretty fun to me but I wouldn't want to buy it full price, I predict it to be a pretty short game and I can see it getting a 3/5 or 4/5 from GB.
I don't know enough about the game to say one way or another. I'm interested in learning more once it comes out though.
Really excited. I love that Steve Blum is voicing the main character, and visually it looks gorgeous.
A lot of the lukewarm response to all of the material released thus far on the game has come from pretentious "games are art!" douche bags. I think this will turn out to be pretty damn fun.
Ya, I've been excited for it since hearing about it. This game is going to get a lot of crap from the "cooler" (meaning people who aren't me and critique and nit pick stuff will probably boot stomp this game- I'm guessing) internet crowds of the internet, but in my book it looks like insane, pointless vulgarity and gore, mindless fun. I cant wait, honestly. Not everything needs to be a serious, realistic romp, and I think sometimes its cool to let loose and play something insane. I hope to get that from Bulletstorm.
Not at all... which is sad. It looked great and it's from epic, so, I was on board. Then they opened their mouths and a ton of tude fell out. Yeah, welcome to motherfuck town. Uuuuuuuuuuuuugh...No. I don't care how brash and fun your characters are. Get out of my face with that shit.
Most of the variety in the kills seem to be highly situational to me, and otherwise most of the game play seems like rope the dude, fling into the air and shoot or kick.
I'm also not really a fan of the"lol we're hardcore cause we swear"approach to marketing. Though I do hope that I'm pleasantly surprised.
it depends on what day you ask me, somedays i'm like "hell yeah it looks hilarious!" and other days i'm thinking "who the fuck are they trying to make this game appeal to?" "Dick tits"? really??
Well the dude calls me a di*k*it and says this s*it ain't gonna pre order itself. Naturally, I had to oblige.
It knows that we know that it knows its trash. As I've said before I'm fine with games cynical about their narratives, because more of them should be honest about how crappy their writing is, especially shooters, so the marketing campaign hasn't affected me one way or the other. The mechanics are the only thing that matters here: if it offers great and interesting new combat mechanics with coop, then I will buy this game without reservation. Also, afaik these guys made Painkiller, which is great, so that gives me some hope.
I absolutely loved Painkiller and it's save to say that I'm a People Can Fly fan. I still play it to this day (A 2004 game!). But...

This.
PK had oodles of atmosphere. You were this one-man army against a horde of demons in a (mostly) gloomy setting (Cemetery, Catacombs, Asylum etc.). That's totally gone in this game.
All this asinine 'bad assery' is not what I've been waiting for. Sure, I'll pick it up and play, but I have my doubts I'm going to enjoy it as much as PK.
