In Gears of War the Lancer is a starting weapon in online play. In the first Gears of War, when two chainsaws went up against each other, the outcome was random, as to who got chainsawed. In Gears of War 2, when two chainsaws go up against each other, the outcome is decided by who can press B the fastest. While you have the chainsaw raised, getting shot causes you to flinch, leaving you open to attack. Gears of War 3 has changed the lancer even more, now requiring players to rev it before use. This causes a few moments where the player is open to attack.
