Just sit back and relax, take a look at all them stats
Comic Jumper is a deranged, ridiculous, and hilarious action side-scroller that could be considered absolute genius or possibly the pinnacle of idiocy. The real catch with Comic Jumper is that everything that happens is a joke of some form, and the intention behind every single second of the game is to make you laugh. Hard. And they pretty much throw every other objective out the window to achieve that.
The hero of Comic Jumper is Captain Smiley, a buff-built, tight-wearing superhero star of his own comic book, who's comic has fallen on hard times. With his foul mouthed sidekick Star, who is attached to Smiley's chest, he takes on guest appearance roles in other comic books to make some extra money.
The hero and sidekick are one of the main sources of entertainment throughout the game, because they fill in almost every section where nobody else is talking with constant bickering and taunting. Other high notes are found in one of Smiley's villains Brad, who is the dudiest dude-bro to ever exist, and also in the hilarious Manga comic that the heroes eventually find themselves in. Also, the Twisted Pixel guys couldn't resist shooting some live-action footage for the game, which is absolutely hilarious.
Unfortunately, Comic Jumper is nothing really beyond a huge string of one-liners and wacky antics. The gameplay is pretty dismal, in fact. You side scroll through the various levels, and the action basically works like a dual joystick shooter, with some light platforming and the option of doing basic melee attacks. That in and of itself is uninteresting, but not horrible in theory. The real problems are that enemies can take far too many hits to bring down, pop out of nowhere, and fill the screen with projectiles that are a bit too punishing. There are many sections in the game where I would die horribly, only to return to the same section and win without getting hit just because I knew where the enemies spawned and I took one baby step at a time to make them appear one-by-one. No satisfaction there, whatsoever.
Overall, Comic Jumper isn't really a failure, because it's pretty clear from the start that they just wanted to make a ridiculous, funny game. I'm 100% confident, though, that they could have found a way to make the parts where you are actually playing vastly more enjoyable, and actually had a funny and fun game at the same time.
