The fourth iteration of Valve's team-based modern-military first-person shooter, rebuilt and constantly expanded for competitive play with new maps, new weapons, and new gameplay mechanics. It was later made free-to-play and most versions were later replaced with the sequel.
I just logged into Steam on random earlier this week, and noticed that I had been given access to the beta through the beta survey on Counter-Strike.net.
Only thing that puzzles me is that I was given access even though I submited the hardware config from my MacBook Pro, and the beta is Windows only.
Gave the beta gift to my brother who's an avid CS gamer, so it was not all waste.
I got one around when ME3 came out... I'm still yet to play it though. Not a big CS player, but I may jump on it at some point just to check it out. Gave my spare key to a mate that plays a fair amount of CS though, so it's not all to waste I guess.
Wow. This is why I hate closed betas. Everyone that doesn't want to actually play it gets one, but the people who want it badly are left in the de_dust.
