Just got to the depths. Fell down a hole and was surrounded by those frogs that apparently curse you. I soon as a saw them I started running frantically looking for an exit, as I've heard that they can curse you from various people. I ran into a dead end and wound up killing every last one of them without contracting a curse. That was the crazy man....completely exhilarating......is this the only place that you run into those frogs or am I in for an additional treat later as well?

You run into them again later on near the end of the game but besides that no.

I had the exact same experience, it was pretty awesome. Did you get the HP regen ring from that area? If not, I'd suggest going back to get it. It's great to get a free (small) heal every time you kill something.
