" He wasn't criticizing the GB crew with that comment. He was just saying that a playthrough that shows off the games general bad/weirdness will not boost sales. I think he's probably wrong but, its not an insult really. "Agreed, he wasn't saying anything bad about Giantbomb, just that them always saying how much the game "sucks" (ahem...Brad) won't help sales. However I do think the ERs make a game sell more, just not what they say the quality is. I think I may have may a point in there somewhere?
Deadly Premonition

Destructoid's Jim Sterling hating on the Endurance Run
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Jim writes some funny stuff but when I read that article I noticed the distinct lack of GB.
I could totally seeing him as a dick though...
SHIT JUST GOT REAL." This is probably like a phony rap grudge, like Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. Giant Bomb will be all visiting Jim Sterling in the hospital when he's dying of AIDS. "
But to stay on topic, I don't really like Jim Sterling though there are those that do. Destructoid is a cool site, I just don't like it as much as GB so I rarely go there. One of my buddies and I were just having a convo about Dtoid and GB. He loves Dtoid, I love GB. THough, I don't think he gets GB that much. But then again, I've been following Jeff and crew since the GameSpot days.
" I like Jim and the Bombers. And yeah Brad doesn't really like this game. "After seeing your avatar, I can't help but picture you saying this in Kevin's voice.
As Ice T would say, Jim Sterling can eat a hot bowl of dicks. He's a total fucking hack. Everyone thing he says is for hits.

" weird, considering how Jeff really like destructoid and plugs them "
From the way I've heard Jeff and Ryan talk about Destructoid (obviously I don't know for sure), it sounds like they are a fan of some of the Destructoid crew, most notably Nick Chester. But I've also heard Ryan make some pretty clearly negative comments towards some Jim Sterling articles.
For the record, I've always thought Jim Sterling is was total goddamn imbecile. This only further strengthens my feelings.
" He gave it a 10/10? That must of been a fun review to write "No, I think he had more fun with the "Deadly Premonition is better than Heavy Rain" article than the review of DP. Jim is just Jim, I don't care one way or another as it seems like when he's supporting something you support you're on his side, and when he's against something you support you'd like him to die in a fire.
" Yet a lot of people hate that review and everyone here likes the Endurance Run... "Because the Bomb crew are awesome and funny and its fun talking to everyone in the comments about the game. The review felt fake and I couldn't tell if the reviewer was being truthful, just like everything else Jim writes.
EDIT: Also, Destructoid is garbage anyway." Jim can go suck a dick. No one cares about his terrible articles. "
Neither had a significant effect on sales either way I'm sure. And they really shouldn't care about that but instead about properly informing their audience. If that in turn has an effect, positive or negative, on sales, so be it, but that shouldn't be the goal. Attract advertisers by being good at what you do which means your audience trusts your judgement, which means your audience increases, which means a lot of advertisement views and clicks (whether the adverts are of video games or not) and in turn revenue. Not by specifically trying to please publishers by having a direct effect on the sales of their particular products.
" As Ice T would say, Jim Sterling can eat a hot bowl of dicks. He's a total fucking hack. Everyone thing he says is for hits. What articles has Ryan made negative comments towards, not asking to be a dick just curious. I also agree that Jim Sterling is an imbecile, intentionally trolling a fanbase doesn't make someone edgy or funny by default like he seems to think it does.

Have you seen the BR team's videos? All they do is complain about how shitty the game is." This is fine, but when commenters started saying that GB Endurance Run probably had more impact he said this "I doubt a video of two guys going out of their way to say how terrible the game is influenced too many sales." "
Also, what's with all the penis imagery in this thread? Me thinks someone has some problems with their sexual identity.
" Sounds like Jim Sterling alright. I just ignore him. The less I have to do with him the happier I am. "
" @SBYM said:" How dare he think that people would be interested in getting a game based on a positive review than some videos where guys make fun of the game?! Let me get all pissy about it and cry! ""

" What a dick. Although he's probably just trolling us, like he usually does. Although that would still make him a dick "He should go suck himself.
