Some cold and hard financial business and poor reception of, presumably, Final Fantasy XIV, has prompted Square Enix to push back the release of Eidos Montreal's shooter Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The publisher now wants the game to see a release in its next fiscal year, which begins in April 2011 and runs through March 31, 2012, according to Joystiq. Previously, the next Deus Ex was supposed to be released in Q1 2011. GameStop had it pegged for a March 2011 release when the Limited Edition bundle and pre-order bonuses were announced earlier this month.

This disappointing bit of information was gathered from a recent Square Enix holdings document, which also mentions that Eidos will "further polish" Human Revolution during the delay.

What does "poor pre-release reception" refer to? Certainly not Deus Ex 3, which has been lauded for its visual design and adherence to what made the first Deus Ex great. When Square says:
 "harsh market feedback regarding a key title," they're referring to Final Fantasy XIV Online.

Disappointing, but not surprising.  I expect to see a few more of these slip..   

However, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is definitely not a triple-A game, unless they've done some serious work since the beta.  "Janky" doesn't even begin to describe it.

Yes, I believe the "poor reception" comment is about FFXIV, not this game, or at least that's what the other articles about this story say. 
 
Either way, this is a huge fucking bummer. Human Revolution is definitely my most anticipated title next year, and now with this very open and vague release window, there's a possibility that it won't even come out til next year. I really hope the delay is only for a month or two, but I won't hold my breath.

Makes sense, I'm interested in DEX Revolution but not nearly as excited as I am about Dead Space 2, Killzone 3, and LBP2.

I was going to buy it day 1 anyways... too many other games to buy.

Yeah so it looks like Deus Ex Human Revolution hasn't been receiving negative feedback, I haven't seen any so this is probably all FFXIV. This does mean however that Sqeenix did see some flaw worth spending the time to polish. Kind of reminds me of Rockstar delaying Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire because delaying Red Dead by a year worked wonders. Except in this case its Square Enix realizing they can't push crap out the door, even with the Final Fantasy brand behind it.

Eh no biggy, tonnes of big awesome games coming in q1 2011, dead space 2, bulletstorm and crysis 2 to name a few.

I'm okay with this, because I want the game to be good, assuming they can put a real good amount of polish on it and that it doesn't turn retarded like Gran Turismo 5.

Polish is good, I guess I can't be TOO upset. And I guess this'll give me time to dedicate to beating Dragon Age II before this comes out, so it's win-win.
