When my copy arrived on Thursday and put the game I wasn't expecting anything. Played through it and finished it Friday evening and enjoyed myself. Anyone excepting this game to be anything beyond a mediocre game is well...stupid.

But this is a guy who got the balls of steel edition just to be able to say I own it.

I enjoyed it and I'm really happy I don't have to think about how to review it. :)

If I had to I'd probably also rate it pretty low, not as low as that guy though.

I don't think Duke's ever gotten good press over in Europe. He's much more of an American thing. And even then, Duke's very much a relic of the past. Not to mention, I almost always never agree with what Eurogamer has to say.

I know Eurogamer is typically very harsh on games, but this game is getting overwhelmingly mediocre reviews. I understand that buns need an appropriate amount of time to bake, but it seems this one was left in too long and has dried out.

The PC version is getting good reviews, has a 76 on metacritic. But anybody who is reviewing the console versions are seemingly giving it low scores.

Damn, that was pretty harsh. I'm not really surprised though, I knew it would get some really negative reviews.

Eurogamer reviews are usually pretty bad anyway. This game is getting scores ranging from 3 to 8.1 so far

Eurogamer is one of the better reviewing sites out there bro

Hahahaha, wrong. They're a bunch of pretentious dicks that never check their facts. They either massively over rate things or massively under rate them. Not to mention they have the writing abilities of an infant.

It kind of dilutes your point when you open the floodgates at EG like that. Like somehow it's not enough to disagree with their game reviews, they have to be really complete failures too that never ever do anything good. Some perspective?

It's an OK game all things considered. Had fun 90% of the time even though it's not top notch quality.

Buying DNF at 60 is a waste of money (or the BOS edition). I'm gonna buy it when it's 5 dollars just to say I own it. Fuck spending $60 on a game I'll play for 10 minutes before giving up.

Not surprised. A 5 year old game coming out in 2011 isn't going to get any sympathy from reviewers. Even if Duke is in it :P.

I think that a lot of people generally forget that there's a huge generational gap between what we played as kids, and whats out now. I'm not saying games were better 12 years ago, but they existed to entertain us in any way they could. Having said that, 12 years and a whole heap of development teams later, and any game would be savaged by a combination of expectations and relatively spoiled gamers, which I think we all are, seeing as big-budget games have so much to them nowadays...still, most people who love Duke will buy this game no matter what the score, because they've been waiting for it so long. They aren't expecting anything but more Duke, so I guess it'll just be their original Duke Nukem experiences driving them during their playthrough of this game...well that and a lot of nostalgia....and  wouldn't be surprised if sexism might make a bit of a comeback for like a week, then it pisses off again...who knows?

Sounds about right, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would after that crappy demo. The driving was the worst part of the whole game, imho.

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. A score that low for a game like this? Maybe a 6 at lowest but a 3? It sucks people were expecting this to be so great because it's taken so long, they got a solid shooter but they still aren't happy. Haters gonna hate.

Yeah. 3/10 sounds like a broken game to me. It should be 5 or a 6 imo.

I still want to play the game after seeing some of the early reviews. Old school gameplay doesn't bother me as I've grown tired of the frentic "modern warfare" style of FPS games recently. However, I did cancel my 360 pre-order and going to buy it cheaper through steam. I hated how the demo played on the console.

It's the bad kind of old school, not the good kind.
