Is Jeff a better host than Ryan?
I think Ryan does a better job of keeping things in control and actually getting everyone to discuss the things that need to be discussed. I think they both do a great job, but I prefer Ryan.
What's wrong with you guys? Why would you want Ryan to keep things moving? All he does is hurry past stuff that could be talked about longer because he doesn't want to go over 2 hours.
Ryan let's other people speak up abit more than Jeff who can really go on a long rant if kept unchecked ;)
Ryan for me. He commands authority. I also think Ryan and Jeff have had a history of bare-knuckle fist fights; Ryan won them all.
Also he's killed a man.
I'd have to listen to a string of Jeff hosted podcasts week after week to make an educated judgement. On the strength of the last bombcast, and the few others he's hosted I'd say he does about as fine a job as Ryan.
Yeah, Ryan is really good as a host. It seems natural for him to host. Jeff doesn't do a bad job or anything, it's just that Ryan is better.
No. Sorry Jeff, but Ryan's the better host. He just seems like a natural host and Jeff really doesn't.
Uh, does no one remember the Hotspot? Jeff is a way better host than Ryan (so's Vinny). Ryan is far too slow-paced to be a host, and he has a bunch of off-putting speech mannerisms like heavy breathing, long pauses and hard enunciations that are unfitting for a person that presumably talks the most during a show. I thought his positioning was awkward from the start.
" Yeah, however, I feel Jeff totally dosent care about being host and i'm guessing has a rather "whatevs, ill do it if I have to" view on it. I feel Ryan kind of thinks as his role as a host is an integral part of who he is both on giant bomb and in real life, despite not (in my opinion) being that great at it. I'm more than happy with the current set-up and I'm sure its like that for a reason. Getting a jeff hosted podcast every now and then when ryan is ill is enough for me. We still have NDX after all. Edit: Nobody i repeat NOBODY will surpass rich gallup as a podcast/live show host. "Yep if only Rich were on board...
" Ryan seems like he was made to host. He's damn good at it. Jeff isn't a bad host, but suffers for the comparison to Ryan, and there's a different dynamic when he's hosting to when he's riding shotgun. I prefer the latter Jeff to the former. A bit more uninhibited, maybe? "Agreed. I feel like Ryan has a more natural feel to the way he presents. He's great at keeping everyone on topic and the show feels clean and professional with his direction - the opening to this week's podcast felt a bit messy (although charmingly so in a rather garrulous way) and I did feel the lack of Ryan's presence.
Ryan has a more commanding presence and pretty much demands attention. I think he's a natural fit for a host, and I think Jeff falls into his role on the normal bombcast beautifully.
Jeff is a good host when you want something completely batshit, slightly unorganized, and allows for organic and natural conversation that goes anywhere without cutting someone off to get back on topic.
Ryan is a good host when you want something that is organized with a little bit of batshit, but the conversation has a directed purpose which usually leads to more quality conversations being held.
In essence, I like them both. In the end, I prefer Ryan just because I'm used to Ryan hosting.
Ryan has a more commanding presence, but I feel like Jeff is better about getting interesting thoughts out of guests. The GDC livestreams have been good examples of that. If someone has something interesting to say, Jeff will let them say it, even if it strays from the topic at hand, or they've been on one topic for a long time. Ryan is fine for weekly podcasts, great even, but I like Jeff heading these event focused casts.
Kinda rude to make a topic on this lol. Think I prefer Ryan, but prob because Im used to him doing it. Guess Jeff is a bit more high energy then Ryan. I think the dynamic they have going works better, esp for Jeff to make jokes. i dont think its a whos better choice, but more of a aesthetic choice. Ryan just makes for a great middle ground between everyone at GB.
