Marvel Minds: CEO edition

I played some Street Fighter V in a local GAME store in Manchester city centre, didn't even know it was there until I saw something being set up with Mad Catz sticks.

I was ass but I had a lot of fun!

Very fluid, I was attempting to do SFIV style crouching medium into hadoken (off of a jumping attack more often than not, force of habit) but there wasn't a noticeable end of frames when the hadoken frames began, all seemed rather seamless.

I only played as Ryu and having never played 3rd Strike I was eager to try out the parry, parrying my first hadokens was amazing. I was so giddy that when I was in the corner the other guy playing was doing overheads as you do, but because I was excited about parrying I didn't bother crouching in the corner, just did more parrys, I was feeling myself for a split second when the 2nd hit of Ryu's overhead hit and in my mind I was all "oh yeah, forgot about that, should've carried on parrying!"

The other guy had a handle on all of Ryu's movelist, he tested out a bunch of stuff on me like v-trigger activated hadokens and such, graphically that stuff looked really nice.

I believe the guy in charge was Capcom UK's community manager. Seems he's on a UK tour taking the game around.

Just bought a HRAP 4 Kai since ps3 stick support won't be in the SFV beta.

Hopefully the Kuro buttons are good, if not I can always get a grip of Sanwas, looks like it's pretty simple to mod.

@l1ghtn1n: Was that Akuma at the end? Either that or the new villain I suppose. The face doesn't remind me of Urien at least.

So Ken's V-Skill is the quick step (probably like the step kick?) and the V-Trigger is heat rush which seems to set people on fire. (source)

Combofiend has stated that they are straying away from obvious clones, so I wonder how much different Ken will be in this one.

@l1ghtn1n: Of the characters I know of Akuma is definitely the closest so my guess is either him or a new villain/end boss character.

@l1ghtn1n: I would be more bummed if the leak turns out to be true. Also since this character's face looks so much like Akuma it would be kind of sad to have a new character that's not Akuma but looks so much like him.

@thunderslash: It's odd, they did say they wanted more original playstyles for the characters but the fight footage from Ken does look quite a lot like SFIV Ken if you ask me. Basically the faster, more offence-oriented Ryu.

Akuma doesn't have pupils so no way this is Akuma. He's got eyes like Bison. Plus I doubt they would randomly add new facial markings to him.

Man rushdown shoto ken seems crazy.

I'd like a character from New Zealand to go with the stage, do the haka before battles, this new guy isn't it though.

@flstyle: You sure about that? I think there is a good chance this could be the New Zealander.

I dunno dude his air tatsu is a divekick? His ground tatsu goes upwards? His V-Skill is basically a command-run. And the fact that his V-Trigger is an FADC (as long as that's not an outdated feature from when they were all FADC or they haven't reverted to being all FADC) makes him seem worlds apart from Ryu. I mean, the only similarities I see are a fireball and an anti-air, and tons of characters have those.

@starvinggamer: Yeah I'm sure the playstyle will be different. I dunno, I guess I expected him to be even more different than that?

That guy's face sorta looks like Abel's the more I look at it. Rasta Abel for SF5!

His skin tone is very pale, not what I'd associate with a New Zealander, then again Juri doesn't look Korean...

@l1ghtn1n: V-Trigger was universal FADC in earlier builds but that changed in the E3 build, but who knows if this video was made back when it was universal FADC or if it's universal FADC again or if it's just Ken. I tweeted Combofiend but he didn't reply :'(

I was kinda hoping Sagat would have it if he came back...

@starvinggamer: Isn't Charlie's V Trigger also an FADC? That can occasionally be used for something else. Also seems like characters with single use V Triggers (no clue how Ken's works) are going to be underpowered at least in the current build. Why teleport once when you can teleport 40 times with Bison?

@bradbrains: They're both looking pretty exciting this year!

@fredchuckdave: That's true, Charlie's can be special-canceled. But Ken's is a powerup super, gives his specials more hits and better trajectories for a period of time. Also AFAIK Bison doesn't have a regular TP, just TP-like effects when he's in V-Trigger. Also Charlie's has like, 0 recovery, so once you have it you can no longer be zoned. Also his V-Skill is a really good poke so he should be able to build V-Meter faster than average.

Still Combo did say he felt the weakest in the E3 build so we'll see.

@starvinggamer: Bison's obviously isn't as good as Charlie's on a single usage but it does greatly enhance his mobility from what I recall, also it lasts like 45 seconds (and SFV rounds take 10-15).

@starvinggamer: I've said it before but I'll say it again: Long hair looks terrible in SFV.

Also watching some of this gameplay I reaffirm my stance that he looks like he plays a lot like SFIV Ken. Much more than I expected considering their earlier statements.
