2011 - The Year of the PS3?

Okay, before I get flamed, first note that this is not a "Which system is better" thread. This is not a "PS3 is teh best, Xbox sux!!11!!!" thread. In fact, I own and enjoy an Xbox 360, PC, and a Wii - no PS3. This thread is more or less a "Which system will give me more entertainment in 2011 and beyond" thread. Some are probably thinking, "Who cares?" Well, the fact of the matter is, if I'm going to be spending a large amount of cash on video games in 2011, I want the system that will give me the most enjoyment, whether that be the 360, PS3, Wii, or heck, the Dreamcast. No fanboyism here.  
 
This comparison will only be between the 360 and PS3, as I feel like, regardless of how much I love my Wii (tee hee hee), it is and always will be my secondary system. This doesn't mean I think people shouldn't rely on it as their primary system, it's just what I, personally, feel. it's a great system, regardless.
 
With that out of the way, let's get started.  
 
I've been an Xbox owner since it came out, and, although I liked the idea of owning a PS3, I've never found a reason to ditch the 360 in favor of one. However, looking at the list of upcoming exclusives for both systems in 2011 is quite astounding and is heavily tempting me to sell my battle-scarred, been to red rings and back 360 in favor of a PS3. I'll let you take a look.

Same here, and then I've looked at the list of upcoming games and what the PS3 had to offer and shrugged. Now it seems Sony is doing so many things right, and the list looks darn good. "

 Well I think its pretty easy to see the PS3 has the better exclusive list for 2011 at the moment

Neogaf has a useful set of threads listing PS3 exclusives  ( http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415682 ) and 360 ones ( http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=415736 ). MS have spent a lot of money on Kinect and the marketing and from the Neogaf listing it's going to be a great year if you're into anything Kinect, that means four people reading this line of text, but other than that eeh.. really poor year and they're going to have to find a magical golden egg laying chicken to pull a miracle out of this year.
 
Get a Slim, forget about a fat PS3, they are ticking timebombs heading towards YLODs, and get a BR movie or two and prepare to have your eyes made love with.

if you want a serious anwser, what are you looking for? "year of the" exclusive games wise? than the ps3 has been the best compared to the 360 for a long time now. If you mean sales wise, than it will continue to be behind in the states, no matter how many exclusives it has, and ahead in europe (except the UK). im talking strictly ps3 vs 360.  personally, its going to be the year of the PC for me. Ill play the big games, gears 3, uncharted 3, etc on consoles, but most of my time will be spent on pc with all the games i just got in the xmas steam sale, and many more i will continue to buy on steam "

I've felt the same, but besides Gears of War 3, I still can't figure out why I should buy another Xbox 360. My Elite keeps red ringing so now I just buy all my games on the PS3 or PC. "

I'm pretty stoked that I own a PS3, though I'll probably only end up with two or so of those games. Leaning towards Uncharted 3 and Little Big Planet 2. inFAMOUS 2 seems like a Christmas thing. Agent intrigues me, though I know next to nothing about it.

Not completely true. I still have my launch PS3 still running perfect like I just bought it yesterday. "

At the end though, from a business perspective, PS3 users just don't buy games.  Gears 3 will outsell everyone of those games.  So what's better at the end?   More sales or a more diverse catalog?   
 
Hell, the two top selling PS3 exclusives are both Gran Turismo 5 products.

Agent in 2011 seems a little too hopeful. We haven't heard anything from that game in awhile.

PS3 has a very strong first party  lineup. That having been said, Sony has shown their hand, and Microsoft has said next to nothing about 2011. Regardless. It's a good year to be a gamer.

I feel like there are going to be so many good multi-plat games that everyone will be happy. I just want Uncharted 3. Other than that, I'm content with Starcraft 2.

Uncharted 3, Killzone 3, and Resistance 3 in the same year? If Sony is smart they will push one or more of those into next year. No use competing with themselves. At least thats how I feel.
 
Has Ninokuni even been announced for the West? And Sorcery... really? Oh well.
 
I look forward to the Shadow of the Colossus and Ico Collection, MotorStorm, Uncharted 3 and this PGR5 that I had not even heard a thing about before.

Ni No Kuni, The Last Guardian, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Gears 3, Yakuza 4, and LittleBigPlanet 2 are really the only games up there that I am interested in really playing(maybe a few others). Most of those are PS3 only games so...I guess the PS3 "wins" this year. And I'm getting ME2 for PS3(rented it for 360 last year) and MvC3 for PS3 too(might get the 360 version down the line too if needed).

Last year wasn't great for the PS3 in terms of exclusives, but indeed this year is looking more like 2009, maybe even better.

I hope we get some good things but honestly who cares at this point. Almost every good game is multiplatform.  Two of my three most anticipated games are multiplatform. (Mass Effect 2 and You Don't Know Jack)

Thats certainly a very impressive lineup for the PS3 although im not entire interested in the second half of that list. I'd also wager there are quite a few 360 exclusves for 2011 yet to be announced. Still, good list.

2011 will be a great year for games and gamers in general. And that's a true fact.

Hopefully you are right, my launch PS3 has turned into nothing more than a bookend and occasional bluray player while I play on PC.

I'm guessing that either Microsoft has some games up their sleeves, or some of those games will be pushed back a bit.

I don't think it's any secret that Microsoft's exclusives are the consoles weak link...

I hope Microsoft announces something incredible because my 360 just sits on my shelf gaining dust and being an overall eye sore.

I play most multiplatform games that isn't available (or suited) for PC on my 360, so it'll even out for me.
Today is also the first day in almost 10 months that I'll be turning on my PS3, just got Demon's Souls :D
