I'm sick of the stereotype that all gamers are either Obese greasy neckbeards or malnourished acne ridden nerds.
Falling into this category (minus the neckbeard) and finding out I was insulin resistant I've decided to do something about it.
After listening to Gary Whitta talk about low carb diets on the tested podcast where you can eat all the bacon, cheese, and beef, chicken and pork you like and lose weight while doing it i've decided to take up the challenge but also incorperate video games by getting my exercise using kinect and its various body wagglin' games.
So far i'm into the second week and I have lost 5.2 pounds! down from 192. I'm a 5'8 male by the way.
Does anyone have any stories to share about staying fit but also fitting a life around videogames and work where you are mainly sedentary?
Are you a healthy gamer? (post height and weight)
5'7", 160 lb.
I work out almost everyday, and I would fucking hate myself if I ever got fat and had that fat person smell. I also don't eat like a pig.
EDIT: This is my kind of thread, a thread about fat people.
Grow taller.
@PeasantAbuse: Hey, we short people have rights too you know. Long standing, God-given rights.
6'4" 195. I used to be like 160 in HS. I'm turning 25 in a few days.

6'4", 145 lbs. My metabolism is weird.
It slows down, don't worry. And being skinny is a good thing. It might suck when you are younger, but you'll grow up to appreciate it.
6'4" - 300lbs. I'd consider myself a healthy person, as in I don't get sick very often, and don't have any medical issues.

@MariachiMacabre: Do you eat much though? Bet you're one of the lucky ones with metabolism that is full gear every second
My metabolism is very fast yeah.
I'm only 5'8", I was just trying to be mean due to what else his post said, and his last blog post. :)
5'4 (My people are a short one) and I am 150lbs.
Weight isn't cause I eat too much, I have like 1 meal and a snack a day, my body just conserves the fats due to there never being any goddamn food in my house. Need to start up on the exercise soon though, not for the looks, I just don't like feeling gross.
6'00, 165. I do heavy weights 3 times a week and run on the off days. My furthest run is 10 miles and I can bench (max) 190. I wake up and take multivitamins and a protein shake every morning and normally drink another protein shake after my workout. So yeah for the most party I am pretty damn healthy, only thing I need to work on is my problem with not drinking enough water. A little over a year ago I was 205 lbs and never exercised and only drank like mtn dew so I guess the habit of not drinking water has stuck with me.
6'3'', 245lbs. That's down from 330 in January. I'm getting there.
Wow, congrats man. Keep it up!
I'm mostly muscular, but I need to work a bit on my core 'cause I have some flab on my love handles. I weigh 230, and I'm 6'0 or 6'1. I feel healthy, and I'm pretty confident in my overall look. And I'm sorry, but I kind of do imagine a very small amount of gamers (on gaming sites) out there that don't look like someone who wants to dress up in cosplay.I do admit I'm probably wrong though.
5'10 170lbs
Used to be a boxer back when. Don't work out much anymore but thinking about starting again. Pretty much hover at my prime weight so can't complain really.
5'7" 165 lbs. Used to weigh 250, went down to 155, started lifting weights and gained some muscle. Still a little pudgy though.
6'6 or 6'7 and 170-180 pounds. Used to skate 4 or 5 times a week for years but its fallen off to a few times a month recently. Really should pick it back up more often as I'm terrified of getting fat.
5'10 170lbs Used to be a boxer back when. Don't work out much anymore but thinking about starting again. Pretty much hover at my prime weight so can't complain really.I'm pretty much the same as you and I just sit around on my ass all day playing games and eating :P
5'9 155lbs. I've put on about 25 pounds in the past two or three years. I really need to exercise more.
5'7" - 5'8" and about 175 - 180 pounds. I am a Wolverine and my hatred keeps me warm, but the lard certainly does it's part to help me through the winters.

I enjoy having a high metabolism
Yea I have been the same for the last 6 months or so. High metabolism is a bitch some times. Like when I drink.. I don't do it often, but I drink these heavy drinkers under the table and always end up sober. It is a bummer at times.
5'10", right now ~175 lbs.
Haven't worked out in a while, but hopefully going to get back to a fixed schedule soon, so that will probably get me back up to 190 lbs or so.
5'1, about 230 or so. It wasn't the games that got me, so much as my obsession with studying and grades back throughout school. I was pretty in shape when I was younger, but at some point just stopped giving a damn what I looked like, and then the next time I bothered to look, well...
5'-11" and 160 pounds. In fact I think I'm too skinny and eat like a madman. What balances it out? good metabolism, no. Not eating carbs, Fuck no gary. In fact I eat 4 meals a day.
I don't usually exercise although I am trying to start up a routine just purely for gaining weight.
So then what my secret?
I don't eat super processed food. Yes I will have Pizza, Milkshakes, Waffles, Hamburgers with some fries on the side, but I never have any Coke/Pop, cookies, candy(not usually).
You got it wrong Gray, you should eat carbs, but you should know that there are different kinds of carbs out there;, and this is coming from someone that has a Biochemistry background. Now go "lead" a bunch of your sheep in something else you don't know anything about.
I guess. I can't really post my height and weight, since my powers generally allow me to change it to whatever the fuck I want.

I eat a lot and don't get fat.I know that. I can eat an entire pizza and not put on a single pound. In fact, I have.
Im going to be the dude who breaks the trend and actually use a 1 to 1 ratio of measurement (the one that actually make sense :P)
Im 1.72 meters and I weight 105 kilograms .... yep I am overweight by 35 kilos , and have a nasty belly to prove it :\ so yeah I fit the stereotype alright.
6'2" and about 185 lbs.
Also: What's wrong with neckbeards? You've offended Europeans everywhere, sir.
Edit: OK, I posted this a month ago, but there's no way that was accurate considering I just weighed myself and I'm 168 lbs. *shrugs*
I never said I was a level 10 vegan that doesn't eat anything processed. So the news better be you're an idiot.@StaticFalconar: No need to be a jackass about it. If you think pizza and waffles are fine and the meat in hamburgers is not processed I have some news for you.

@Aetheldod: Only makes sense if people understand you. I could have said I was 13stone which is the usual way we do it here in the UK but come on....
stone is the worst measurement I have ever seen, bar none. and I live in the land of inches and feet (which are terrible)
