Extra Life 2014 GB Team - Play Games, Heal Kids - Oct 25th

Hey there people! I'm going to be doing my own 24 hour stream this year too! (And hopefully will be around to help GB with theirs!).

Going to be doing it either the weekend before whenever I can justify not working on Webhook :)

Last year during Extra Life I got a really good response to playing Mary-Kate And Ashley: Magical Mystery Mall and allowing people to donate to force me to play longer.

This year I decided to build on that success...

As with last year, I'll commit to playing them for a short period of time and people will be able to donate to force me to keep playing them.

Next up, I'll be doing something special for Extra Life this year. I will be doing not one, but two 24 hour streams. They will be themed as "Single Player / Multiplayer." On October 25th I'll do the normal 24 hour stream. Then I will get some sleep before @cyhowskij comes over and we do another 24 hour stream. The headlining game for the second day will be a co-op playthrough of Secret of Mana- one of my favorite games, and one that Jared hasn't played. With the time left after that is done we will be playing other multiplayer games... possibly some multiplayer Mary Kate and Ashley!?

And then... prizes!

This year I'll be giving away 2 $100 Amazon gift cards, as well as a signed Giant Bomb Nighthawks poster (some lobster-packing is evident, but this is one that I received as a replacement, so it is much better than the original 2 I received. It's sibling is framed on my wall). I'll likely be adding some more prizes as we approach the event (and I may give away the 2 Nighthawks posters I got that were damaged, so some duders without another way to get a poster can get some, even if they aren't in the best condition). Like last year, every $5 you donate will be 1 entry in the prize raffle.

I'm really looking forward to Extra Life this year! Last year it was easily the most meaningful thing I did all year.

I'm joining up for the first time this year. Last year's streams from the main crew were amazing, and I'm going to try to stay as awake as I can and keep streaming! Plan is to go on the main date of Oct 25.

Alright guys I've got my crap together and the test streams are quite satisfactory so I'm officially in! Here's my info, I'm gonna be rotating PC games like every 20 minutes or so (with the exception for some multiplayer games) to keep myself occupied and engaged and I'm gonna try and walk for 30k steps also! Because why not!

I figure that some people would like a 'tv guide' while the event is happening (I would if I wasn't also participating) & I had a spare half hour while waiting around in the lab at work so I made a 'view only' googledoc that contains all the users in this thread that have posted a stream link and/or a donation page.

If you'd like add detail to the spreadsheet, PM me and I'll update it or PM me your e-mail address if you want editing rights. I'll check back in to this thread every few days to update the spreadsheet with info from new posters.

I'm doing this again, last year I raised $450 for the team and hopefully a bit more this year.

last year I did a mix of SNES/N64 games and random Steam stuff, not sure what I'm doing this year yet

I went last year as well, and raised a little chunk of money considering I capped at about 2 simultaneous viewers through the whole thing. So I'm going to do it again!

I think I've settled on a theme of "Clearing out my Backlog" by finishing a bunch of games that are sitting half-3/4 finished, including but not limited to:

I finally got around to fully customizing my fundraising page with information on both 24-hour streams, plans for games, prizes (aside from the Nighthawks poster, there are $225 in Amazon gift cards up to win, and every $5 gets you a chance), and all that fun stuff. I also added a crazy extra incentive. My goal is $500, but if I somehow manage to make it all the way to $1000, I will commit to playing and finishing every Mary-Kate and Ashley game on future streams. Because I hate myself?

When I can find the time to throw one together, I'll make a simple graphic that people can put on their Twitch pages to link to Extra Life or the Giant Bomb team and post it in this thread. It's a really easy to draw attention to the charity.

@duke_bilgewater: This would be awesome to have because I have been streaming nightly to try to gather donations and interest leading up to October 25th.

So I'm gonna get an extra copy of Bayonetta 2 to give away on my stream. Anyone got any tips about that sort of thing? Should I just set a minimum entry donation amount or something?

@dwigtk: Same, since I stream all the time anyhow.

Here are a few flavors of of button. I would have used their logo's text, but I didn't feel like fiddling with the transparency. These are pretty simple and not too pretty, but they should get the job done.

(I just realized that there's a little bit of white on the left side of all of these, but if you want to use them you can crop that out easily.)

First time for me to do this. After watching Brad last year I knew I wanted in this year. My kid was twice a patient at Nationwide Children's and wanted to pay it forward. They never asked for a dime either time.

I'm going all DOTA 2 because I routinely make bad decisions. I'll be raffling off my extra steam codes and may buy up some dota chests to raffle away.

My user-made Don Bradman 2014 'Giant Bombers' team will be playing in a three-way 20-20 tournament against Canada and Russia. It'll be streamed here.

For a minimum donation of a dollar, you can place a bet as to who will be (a) top run scorer (individual batting points) and (b) top wicket taker (pitcher 'outs') for 'Giant Bombers' at the end of the tournament. Each donation entitles a bet for one player in both categories. Each donor can place multiple bets if they donate multiple times.

Leave your choices in the comments on my donor page (or PM me on giant bomb after donating if you don't use/want to use facebook).Correct choices in each category will be raffled and winners declared at the mid-point of the stream.

The two winners will get a steam key for a game of their choice up to a maximum value of $40 each

I raised a little last year, but I couldn't get my equipment in time to actually stream. This year that has changed with the new consoles able to easily stream so easily and me purchasing a new laptop. But, instead of switching between devices, I'll be streaming primarily on PS4. As for the theme? Since school has been so hectic, I wasn't able to go with my idea of 24 hours of WCW/NWO Revenge (next year) so I'm gonna do first runs with Shadow of Mordor, The Evil Within, & Alien: Isolation. I'll be checking in and out with everyone else's streams and see how they are going.

Last year we played every Army Men game back to back. It was terrible.

This year, starting at 9am PST, we are doing something even worse: playing 48 Metacritic-certified "Worst Games of All Time". We actually took the bottom 200 rated Metacritic games, then picked the 48 worst from that list.
