So did I miss something? Is it coming to android? When is it out? How much does it cost?
I might have missed a bit while I was messing with my speakers thinking they were broken lol.
Giant Bomb Mobile Preview
I posted something similar in response to Dave's blog post, but can you guys also ensure video functionality on Blackberry's?
I know they can be fickle with the video formats they support (I posted a link to RIM's documentation on media support) and seeing this is something we're going to be paying for I would like to get the full functionality on my phone (pretty please??)
I'm sure everything else will work fine, especially with the new OS including a webkit browser. My only concern is video playback.
It's not an app, it's a slimmer, trimmer web page. :) Also, it's just a sneak preview."Ummm...can someone explain the copyright at the bottom of the Starcraft page shown in this video? Is Giant Bomb and/or Whiskey Media seriously copyrighting the material that WE take the time to write on those wiki pages...or is the copyright for the app itself? "
According to the TOS, everything original we contribute to GB defaults to cc-by-nc.
Slapping a copyright notice next to something doesn't make it magically so, but it is important to have that statement there, because it gives Whiskey a stronger legal footing in case some fly by night FAQ site wants to rip off your Guides, etc. (And as any prolific FAQ writer can tell you, that totally happens.)
" Wait, so we paid for the giantbomb app and now they're making it free? THANKS GIANTBOMB! "Duder, the actual app has been free for a while.
Also, $2 isn't that big of a deal. I come from a home where a year ago we qualified as "in poverty", and $2 still isn't a big deal at all.
Just think of the $2 as a small subscription. Christ, you whiners are annoying, Giantbomb's not trying to screw you, they just don't want to be stuck with a limiting market. Especially now that iphones have a lot of competition, it's stupid to keep supporting a platform-limited app -- if anything that's screwing over the Giantbomb user base even more.
Is the talk coming only from the right side for anyone else? The music while they were playing the video was nomal though. Annoying as hell.
that looks like the greatest mobile site i've ever seen. i can't believe you guys are doing all of that with just HTML. Major Props Top Men.
That's sick. Unfortunately, the only "Mobile" device I browse the internet with is my Zune HD. How does this fare on Mobile IE? I expect not well? :B
I really can't comprehend why they would limited the mobile site to paid users, especially when it's standard for pretty much every other big free website. You could have a lot more people using and contributing to the site if the mobile version was up to everyone, and could easily insert the occasional mobile ad as well.

I'd like to know this also - one of the larger reasons for the subscription in my world.
I like watching GB vids while on my HTC desire.

The mobile site is live.
You have to log in to the site in your mobile browser and you should be redirected. If not, try to enter the URL m.giantbomb.com while logged in.
this may have been answered but what phones will be the videos be able to play on???? Ive got a blackberry torch with the new webkit browser and they're not loading. also seems like when on the video section its crashing my browser
Problem with the mobile site on my HTC Desire. When I play a video the phone's top status bar stays visible, it's pretty distracting.
