Just look at the things they are making today, I counted all the Samsung products I owned. 2 LCD TV's 3 LCD Monitors, a fridge, a microwave, 4 mobile phones.
Samsung should start to create there own console...
Just because a company designs many different hardware, doesn't necessarily mean that they're good at making a console. Often the console needs to be at least backed by some first party titles and that Samsung would need to pour a few million into game development and the acquisition of a gaming department.
and make their own games? or just another platform getting released to expect third parties to develop for alongside PS3 and 360, and said third party titles being their only games?
Nintendo doesn't count, huh? You remind me of the fanboys discounting the Wii because they are sore losers and don't want to admit that Nintendo steamrolled the competition in terms of hardware sales.
Who owns just a Wii aside from 8 year olds, MILFs and hardcore Nintendo fanboys?!Nintendo doesn't count, huh? You remind me of the fanboys discounting the Wii because they are sore losers and don't want to admit that Nintendo steamrolled the competition in terms of hardware sales.
Nintendo are just a side choice alongside another console at the moment.
Nintendo steamrolled the competition in terms of hardware sales.Talking about hardware, not software. Like it or not, Nintendo is big. Don't get your panties in a bunch over it.
I don't want more consoles. I want less consoles. I want only one console, which every developer is welcome to produce software for.
No more exclusive content, no more console wars, no more rivalry. UNITE!

I've seen some fanboys on this site, but man, you're a different league. :P@Afroman269 said:

There are tons of companies that make a lot of money manufacturing popular electronics that we could all hypothetically say should get into video games, but making microwaves, TVs, etc. and creating and maintaining a video game platform are two very different things. Consoles like the Phillips CDi have already been mentioned in this thread and are great examples of this kind of idea going wrong. As you may know the 3DO is an example of Panasonic specifically manufacturing a console themselves and it turning into a disaster.
Well, I understand the acronym. I just didn't realize that MILFs were apparently one of the primary consumers for the Wii. You'd think the relative 'hotness' of a Mom wouldn't affect the probability of buying a Wii but I guess someone has insider information about such things.

Is that not true then? I know I sure as hell wouldn't want a Wii as my only console. I like Nintendo, hyped for the 3DS when it starts to get a library as great as the DS.

Next time just say you wouldn't have a Wii as your only console and your reasoning, then keep it at that.
The Samsung Galaxy plays games...therefore they are already involved in the games industry. They should never make a home console though...they don't have the resources.
The handheld-designed-for-MMO's market is being ignored at the moment; maybe Samsung should take a crack at it.
They are a fantastic hardware company but what will they have to offer from a software perspective? Don't forget how much money MS lost on the first Xbox. If it wasn't for Halo we might not even have the 360.
The only company I could see creating a console except the current ones is Apple, and they don't seem very interested. It's a pretty expensive venture.I could see Google eventually doing some cloud based, Onlive type thing, like Steam but better, but not in the near future.
@kalakov: Not to be a grammar nazi, but imo thread titles should always be spelled correctly......Don't you mean "its" and not "their"?Its Their not There
