The Xbox 360 is a 4 year old console and starting to show.

Do you mean physically showing its age or showing its age in the form of the way the games play.
If it's the latter I totally disagree.

Well for example it's starting to show it's graphic and functionality limits like having to put FFXIII on 3 disks.
" @L4wz: No. A 4 year plan seems to be too unbalanced with the other systems and only screws over MS. If they do that then Sony and Nintendo will get their later releases and be the "bigger attraction." If MS plays it smart they will wait. "
I don't see why they can't have the Xbox 720 and the Xbox 360, I mean look at the PS3 and PS2.
" @L4wz: That's because the game is too large to fit on one DVD. A Blu-Ray holds much more data than a DVD. "
That wasn't a problem before games started to become so massive. Maybe they should replace the DVD with Blu-Ray. I think I heard something about that before.

And the graphics are still improving on the system- we haven't see the max yet. Besides you have to be anally ridiculous to say a 360 game looks dated. Even against the more powerful PS3 it looks good enough.
This gen isn't close to being over now. Stop being so bloody impatient for no reason.
Dude,
They don't need to compete over the Wii that much as the market is almost certainly a different market.
The graphics are almost the same as the PS3's, they definitely do not need to upgrade yet.
We need to get through this Second Coming of the Great Depression before we can even begin to consider a new hardware generation.
And I disagree. The 360 is not showing its age in the least. I don't even see why they'd ever need to upgrade past possibly supporting bluray. This DVD thing has run its course as far as interactive media goes.
" Microsoft should either upgrade their console or make a new one because it is starting to show it's age and could really use an upgrade for competing against the two newer consoles or they should release a new one. What do you guys think? "I think you're an idiot. I have all 3 current consoles in my household and the 360 feels the most solid to me. There's nothing to indicate that MS needs a 360 refresh to keep up with the other two before the next generation rolls around.
Also the last time I checked, it plays the same games as the PS3 (not including exclusives, obviously), and does so with better visual fidelity and in some cases, framerate.

Anyway you can look forward to the next generation of consoles around the year 2012. Of course you COULD build yourself a nice little PC if the 360 isn't giving you the graphics you want/ performance you want. But if you aren't into that, you'll just have to wait another 2 years or so.
Occasionally having to switch discs is not that big of a problem. Of course it is a problem when disc swapping is implemented poorly like Star Ocean 4, but that's on the developers.

Your an idiot if you don't think that Xbox 360 shouldn't upgrade itself with Blu-Ray and PS3 fanboys wouldn't be able to brag about that anymore if it did.

You don't work in the economy, do you?" @Kombat said:

This thread is stupid as your idea is absurd on countless levels. You're in no position to call anyone an idiot. Microsoft aren't going to spend fucking millions of dollars on technology they don't need yet just to shut up a dozen nerds with an inflated sense of brand loyalty to Sony on the internet. What the hell are you thinking?" @Matfei90 said:

No that would be an added bonus. It would eliminate having to swap disks and can play movies at high-def.
The Orange Box doesn't even take up more than 6 GB and it has like 5 games in there. It depends on how well the game is compressed and what kind of unnecessary shit they need to take out of their games. Now isn't the time and quite frankly having to use more than one disc for a game is not an issue. They will be optimized and compressed as necessary.

Hey guy... you should really quit while you're ahead. Not that you're actually ahead, you're probably much more like wayyyyy behind at this point. But still, you should just stop. Of course you probably like flame, thats probably why you made this thread in the first place. So anyway, I'm gonna stop posting on this one now, cause this is getting a little tooooo ridiculous.
