I don't know if this was posted or not.....honestly not flipping through 13 pages of this thread =p
In the first Charlie's Angels movie some kids are playing Final Fantasy VIII in the scene where Drew Barrymore tries to escape "naked". I believe the kids are fighting in the Balamb Garden training ward.
Ah!! But here is a video!! =) Notice that they are playing "co-op". LOL!!
Video Game Appearances In Film - A Community Compilation Project
There is an xbox 360 in Paul Rudd's apartment in Dinner for Shmucks. I knew spotting it would be useful someday!
Best.... movie....... Ever!!!!!!" At the start of the movie, In the movie 'The Princess Bride' (1987) the kid is playing 'Hardball' for the Commodore 64 or the Atari 8-Bit.
"
" According to my friend, A Wii makes a constant appearance in the TV show True Blood. He also said in the most recent episode they were playing Dead Space: Extraction. I can't confirm this, not having seen the show myself, but he's a big video game person so I think he would know.Yep, in Season 2 (don't remember which episode) there was a pretty funny scene where Hoyt's zombified mother played Dead Space: Extraction and acting crazy and aggressive while waving the wiimote around.
I just felt like dropping a couple of horrible old swedish movies with video game references, I have not managed to track down any screenshots of either though:
The Jönsson Gang Gets Gold Fever (1984), the movie contains the classic racing game Pole Position, played on a strange (most certainly fictional) hand held gaming device, whose games are stored on microchips and are fully cross-compatible with microchips containing military secrets, which becomes a plot point as the chips are mixed up.
Beck: Spår I Mörker (1997), lots of ridiculous video game violence stuff in this, as a gang of kids, inspired by the game Final Doom, runs around in the Stockholm subway system killing commuters for frags. The people who made the movie probably had no idea there was an actual game by the name Final Doom, as all the footage in the film is from Bungie's Marathon.
In the new A-Team film, the CIA guy is sitting in a vechile using a predator missile and is about to blow up the A-team crew. The CIA guy is like "This is just like Call of Duty".... i was cringing when he mentioned that. Such an awesome film ruined by the mention of a substandard game :P
Of the three movies I saw recently (Resident Evil Afterlife, The Town, and Wall Street 2), guess which one had a video game appearance?
If you guessed The Town, you'd be correct! A small scene showing the Boys & Girls Club volunteer kids are playing Halo. Yep. That's the movie with the game cameo. Suck on that, RE!
Forgive me if they've been said, but in Zombieland, Columbus plays World of Warcraft, and Guitar Hero: World Tour (deleted scene). And in Superbad, Evan plays The Getaway: Black Monday.
Do TV Series count? I hope this wasn't posted before, but...
- Some guys in Lost playing Half-Life (And making comments about the infamous Crowbar)
- House playing all kinds of Handhelds
- Kale (The protagonist) in Disturbia is playing something on his 360 online
- Columbus (The protagonist) in Zombieland is playing World of Warcraft
- The Big Bang Theory has numerous games in it
- In Veronica Mars, Logan is seen playing some games on the PS2
Its probably been mentioned already but Gears of War or the sequel(i cant tell the difference) was played in a scene of The Hurt Locker.
i recently watched all 7 seasons of Entourage, and throughout the show the guys kept playing Xbox and Xbox360 games. including Gears of War, Prototype, and some boxing game
Dexter played Halo 3 in Season 3. Don't know if it was mentioned.
He also played it on a PC, with fake sound effects and only using a keyboard, on what seemed to be a Windows 98. Ugh. I mean, who were they trying to fool?
I remember Ethnic Cleansing being in the pilot episode of Justified.
In Entourage Drama plays the Godfather and another episode has Turtle going to compete in a Fight Night Round 2 tournament as a major plot point.
You can also see Drama and turtle playing a Mortal Kombat game in another episode.
" we should also compile a list of where games were used improperly like the American chopper commercial where they were playing a ps2 with gamecube controllers "I hate that crap! Plus, they always just use Super Mario Bros. sound effects! LOL!
" @trophyhunter said:I think it's a public domain issue. TV shows always seem to play Pac-man or SMB1 sounds whenever anyone plays a video game..." we should also compile a list of where games were used improperly like the American chopper commercial where they were playing a ps2 with gamecube controllers "I hate that crap! Plus, they always just use Super Mario Bros. sound effects! LOL! "
Did anyone mention Simon Pegg(Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz)'s old show Spaced? Episode 3 revolved around Pegg's character being obsessed with Resident Evil 2, to the point where he was losing touch with reality. The episode featured actual footage and sound from the game.
Saw that the new Mortal Kombat game was being played in Nikita last night, it was Scorpion and someone else fighting. Reminded me of when Heavenly Sword was being played in an episode of Heroes months before it was out. The new Mortal Kombat makes you a better computer programmer apparently.
These shows and movies may have been mentioned before, I got a little impatient and excited and just had to share my thoughts without reading the entire thread. :D
In the TV show Entourage the fat guy who wears hip hop trains to try to win a gaming competition and he gets beaten by some elementary school black kid who had a beta of the game. There used to be this show about rich college (or was it high school) students in California and one of the dads plays a racing game I think and he talks about how it makes him feel like he is 16 again. People mentioned the Wrestler movie and that fake game in it but the kid who plays with the wrestler also talks about playing Call of Duty 4 with his friends and about how it is about a British Secret Service Agent.
And there was an entire movie based about a kid and his Nintendo. Sorry I'm not good with names, some of you must know what I am talking about. Man, I watched that movie and I literally started having dreams about having a Nintendo and I kept begging my parents to get me one.
" There's a shot of Half-Life 1 in one episode of Lost. "What episode is this? I don't remember this.
I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but in the film "Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of Balance" there is footage of Ms Pac Man and this other racing game being played in high speed. I kinda recognized the game, but I can't remember it's name.
Oh, and The Grid by Philip Glass -track in Chime is from Koyaanisqatsi. If you like that game, you might not be bored to death by the movie.
Chrome is telling me something on the first page of this thread is linked to a malware site or something.
Anyways, some of the gangsters in Romeo Must Die are playing Madden (I think 99, 00, or 01?) at one point. If no one's said this already. I'm not reading 15 pages to find out right now.
Anyway, How I Met Your Mother. Ted even met a girl in World of Warcraft.
Havent' gone through all the damn comments, so sorry if someone already said "Shaun of the Dead" Ed plays Timesplitters 2.
