" Pokemon blue save file i was 140 hours in and it got corrupted. I WAS PISSED and I STILL AM. never booted the game up since. "same, except i did this twice in a row.
Worst game file save you lost?
the most disturbing for me was crash bandicoot 2 save file that I was working on. Had Only one silver diamond to get in the last world and my little brother saved over my file... If you guys have played CB2, you know how insanely difficult it iss to get some of the colored diamonds.... GRRRRR

CB2 was one of the few games I needed to be chewing something for, lest I grind my teeth away to nothing.
this as well actually! But funnyily enough, I got back to the same point in under 3 hours" 8 hours of Demon's souls. "
" @Ineedaname said:Yeah oddly enough so did I, it's not a hard game just patient, but once you know what's around the corner it's easy enough, and with haven taken time to go through the first sections they're stored away in memory, and easy enough to recall on.this as well actually! But funnyily enough, I got back to the same point in under 3 hours "" 8 hours of Demon's souls. "
I remember my tales of symphonia file back on the game cube done got corrupted when I was moving onto disc 2, never went back. Similarly Mass Effect 2 died on me around 20 hours in, I just started that again though because I know I'd be to mad at myself for not playing it.
one time I just straight up lost one of those n64 memory pack things. I had saves for 2 reaaaaaallly long rpgs on it.
I was playing final fantasy IV and I was over half way maybe close to the end and I turned it off then next day it got corrupted and I never played it since It was the snes version a friend gave it to me so I can finish it he also gave me his snes for a couple of days. Oh and on my PC I had some saved games of I think Tomb Raider 2 and some racing games and some games that I never finished and my HDD got fried and I lost all of them and pictures/music/videos/programs think it was my darkest gaming day :D it was like 2002-2003 I didn't have internet back then :D.
In Arkham Asylum I was playing through on hard and I was at the part where the dudes keep coming down the elevator in that small room with the electric fences and stuff. I lost a couple times in a row and got pissed so I turned it off while it was saving and the file got corrupted. So I had to replay the entire game. Don't really care, though, because that game was absolutely awesome.
" @armaan8014 said:Haha.. I lost my Witcher save as well. Same situation.Me three.. Already had the game and I was almost finishing my renegade walkthrough in ME1 when, installing ME2 , deleted both my paragon and renegade walkthrough saves. Luckily I managed to recover my first walkthrough and part of my second one. Also GTAIV when I was about 80% through. I'm still looking for my Witcher save so I can use it in the second game but no luck... "" @Spiral_Stars said:
" Mass Effect two weeks before Mass Effect 2 came out. "*sigh* me too.. also, Oblivion and GTA IV when I was 75% + through "
Grand Theft Auto IV
I completed most story missions, all side missions, collected all cars for Brucie and Steve, all cop missions, almost all races, every single stunt jump, beat the QUB3D high score, unlocked all firend abilities except for Packie's and killed half the total number of pigeons.
Everything on my PC!
That is the problem with having a hard drive corrupt.
-GTA4
-Crysis
-Fallout 3
-The Witcher
-Risen
and alot more but I can't recall the ... wait -Mass Effect is another one.
pokemon leaf green, had every pokemon obtainable in that game!! so i went to transfer them into the pal park on platinum and when i put it in the gba slot on the ds it wiped the save file....turns out my copy of leaf green was pirated
in short, FUCK EBAY!
I sold my PS3 with my Shin Megami Tensei: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Souless Army data without transferring.
When I started the sequel and i realized I had no data to transfer I just couldn't continue.
That happened to my PC once. Not cool. :o" My whole Xbox 360 game files... hard drive was hit by lightning. No joke. Dont ask how that happened though >.<... "
I'm sure there's been other ones for me, but the only one I can remember is losing my Assassin's Creed II save recently. I had almost all the feathers and glyphs (probably one or two sittings away from them all) and switched it off for the night. Went to back up my save onto my MU and straight up hit delete by mistake. That "Fuck. Fuck... Fuck!" feeling that pops up when you realise what you've done is the worst. Couldn't even blame it on anything else. I wouldn't have minded so much but I hate collectables... especially when it was as laboured as that. And it's not like I could ignore the rest of the game and just get the feathers either, I needed to re-unlock all the areas and skills to get to them again. Needless to say, I got them in the end. But for what? 30 points? What a waste of time. :|
... I'd do it again.
Banjo Kazooi on the N64, I remember the frustrating world select stage that I could never find the stage I wanted to play and then 1 day I turned it on and went through there stupid game start menu and accidentally deleted my file. I swear I almost threw the game out of window after that, but truth be told I never played it on the N64 after that.... I was pissed.
Eternal Darkness for the Gamecube when it lied and said that your save file was corrupted. Nerd rage then embarrassment followed :/
mine was really stupid, I was playing FF7 on psn, and I was using a let`s play to guide me through, and I remember many many times I was doing nothing but level grinding, and then I was about 60 hours in, and I was at this part where I have to breed chocobo`s, so after wasting probabaly like, millions of yen ( i think ) I felt bad, so out of PURE stupidity, I deleted my game save and tried to start over, which I have yet to do so, actually I think I might today
Red Dead Redemption multiplayer save when I was Legendary Rank 2 (well, one level shy). Not the worst in this thread but still made me want to smash my 360 with a hammer. Glad I didn't.
100% FFX, Completed Persona 3 FES (with epilogue) and Persona 4, and a whole bunch of other games.
I accidentally threw out my PS2 RPG memory card. I was depressed for awhile
Both Kingdom Hearts 1&2 for PS2 right before the end. Worst days of my life, except for real world troubles.
Goddamn Far Cry 2. I was so far into that game, both in playtime and enjoyment, before I got the notorious save bug. What I thought was boundless love for that title was quashed within minutes of discovering what had happened. Sure, I could try to finish the game from where I'm at in one sitting, but the damage is already done.
I never had a lost save until about 3 months ago.
My level 20-something Fallout 3 character got stuck in an area that the script wouldn't advance through and I'm the type of gamer who (used to) overwrite my one save instead of have 30 different saves. It was so fucking frustrating.
"You shouldn't have been looking at all that porn!Actually like a few months ago, my pc had a virus where I had to format. My games were on a different drive, yet I lost all my saves for all my pc games at the same time. Honestly that's probally the worst lost i've ever had.
"
Far Cry 2, was about 70-80% in I think and somehow my save got deleted or wouldn't load or something. I've tried on a few occasions to go back but just can't bring myself to do it. So many freaking diamonds lost . :'(
Ahh man, this is shameful, but I just lost a 90+ hour save on Pokemon Heart Gold. Besides that, my old "friend" shut off FF7 right as I was using my save point in the meteor. Totally burned my memcard; FFT, FF7, Gran Tourismo, Frogger scores, Diablo...all gone. Damn, Diablo used to take up a lot of pages...
Way back when I was playing my brother's old PS1 (we used to have to turn it upside down, oddly enough, for it to work), I was playing through Breath of Fire III. Not a long game by any means, but I had just gotten to the very end after a good thirty hours of gameplay; I literally needed to walk into the next room and bam, final boss and ending. I had just saved it, but thought to myself, hey, I'll save it again just for good measure. As the PS1 was buzzing away, the power suddenly cut out. Turns out my dad was fiddling with the power that morning. I was so frustrated that I had decided to save it again "just for good measure" that I stopped playing RPGs on the PS1. Took me probably ten years to even replay Breath of Fire III because I was so mad about the whole thing.
My battlemage (custom class) in Morrowind. My brother's friend saved over the file and I lost everything. I had about 60 hours into the character and had tons of good stuff. I was pissed, but it allowed me to focus on my main character who I ended up leveling up to Level 55 and beat the game with. So, in the end, it was a blessing in disguise.
Back in the PS1 days, I bought a 3rd party memory card that had five pages of room on it. You'd switch between pages by pressing a little button on the card, but only when the card wasn't being read. A family member wanted to play a game on there, and he panicked a bit when the card was being read. He shut down the PS1, wiping out the entire memory card along with 30+ game saves, including a near-100% FF7 completion. Drove me crazy, but eh, it's just games.
Pokemon red/blue was never a problem with me, since beating the game was more my goal than catching all the pokemans. So yeah once I beat it and caught Mewtwo, I would play around for a little bit, then started up a new game. There was a time that I had the full pokedex. It was a little harder to start a new game, but damn did I love making my way through Kanto.
I guess the moment I geeked out the most about losing a save was when my computer decided to die and me, so yeah pretty much every game was gone in an instant. Needless to say, more games need to support steam cloud.
My entire PS2 memory card due to a faulty plug socket turning the console off when you're explicitly told not to. A part of me died that day.
Street Fighter 4 (PC) Every time I get every one unlocked the save file is magically corrupt and I have to start over.
Apparently the game saves when you die and it goes to the continue screen: Batman Arkham Asylum crashed when I was 55-65% through it. I turned the console off when it was saving and the data became corrupted.
