I bought a dog :)
Chomp, because that's what Rorie's going to do to that cute lil guy!
Mind if I ask what breed that is? I've been looking for a puppy for a bit, and that lil guy is adorable!
He's a Lhasa Apso. We had those when I was a kid too. So I know a little about the breed (temperament etc etc). They are loving and loyal, but still pretty independent. I think he will go mainly light gold/white when he loses his puppy coat, as both his parents are very light gold (almost white)
He's pretty damn cute tho, I have to agree. Just waiting till he has had his last round of shots before we can take him home with us. (next week hopefully)
@rorie please don't chomp down on my pup ;)
I think George is a good dog name. Or maybe Bill. I like when dogs have people names.
or when they are named after Presidents?
Mittens.
or, Giantbomb's Relativistic Speed Plus One. A name like that makes the Westminster folk positively dripping wet. You'll win ribbons. Elaborate blue ribbons from elderly British people wearing dress jackets over turtleneck sweaters and tan pants with polished patent leather shoes.

I had a Lhasa-Tzu mix when I was a kid! She was very aggressive towards strangers - even friends who were constantly over were growled at by my dog. When I got older and brought girlfriends home, my lhasa would be very aggressive towards them. She was so cute, everyone wanted to pet her, but they'd just get snapped at.
Should have rescued and/or adopted instead.
how do you know he didn't? Shelters can have purebreds too. Though I do prefer muts and I hate little dogs.

The word 'bought' seems to imply more than if "i got a doggy doo!"

Uh, my mom worked for our local SPCA for a decade and adopting a dog from there meant that you were paying money for it, I.E. bought. You can say you bought a dog when you adopt them from a shelter... Because you are buying them.

Uh, I have my own mind and get certain feelings from words like every other person does and have my whole life. I.E. Its normal. I can say a word to me seems to imply something because it's the way I interpret it. Why are you trying so much to 'prove me wrong'?
@everettescott: because you used your weird interpretation to say someone else was wrong for something you weren't even sure of.
And you fail to explain your interpretation. How does "I bought a dog" mean they didn't adopt from a shelter? Because you feel it?
Thats cool

I not know why even try. Done.

He clearly bought it from a breeder.
Saying that, rescued dogs are a lot different. The stresses they have seen can make them lash out and require much more work. It is an honourable thing to do, but not something that is easily transferable.

That was my original plan. I checked out all the rescue centres within about 20 miles of here, and they were all relatively big dogs (lots of staffies), and/or dogs that would need a lot of exercise. One of the reasons for getting a dog, is to get my dad a bit more active after having heart problems in the past 12 months or so...and a big dog would be far too much for him to handle I think.
So that was the reason for not going down that route. There was nothing suitable at the time we were looking unfortunately.
My dad's friend has a rescue collie/spaniel cross who we look after a few times of year, and he is great...boundless energy, but a great dog. So I am all for rescue when poss.
also...please play nice you lot.....no need to get shirty with each other. x

That's all good to hear. Positive thoughts for your Pa.
(my original post was just my opinion on the subject. It wasn't a bad mouthing of you, which I feel you figured I wasn't doing anyway.)
Two syllable dog names are always the way to go. Its easier for dogs to understand when training them come when you call their name. I like where thehbk is going...
Stone Cold Steve Austin
...you could call him Austin, then find one of those old Stone Cold shirts with "Austin 3:16" on the back and make a bad-ass doggy shirt. And when it gets all wild you say it just "opened a can of woop-ass".
You'll find a name that fits. The guy in my avatar was a rescue and was called "Mouse" but it didn't seem to fit. After a week at my place. I had people over for the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game when they were ranked 1 and 2 in the nation. I was lamenting not having a better name for him and one of my friends asked how a brown and black dog wasn't named "Brutus." I said it out loud once and he look,ed at me and cocked his head. He's been Brutus for 7 years and it just fits him right.
