The samurai sword from Saints Row 2 and of course the iconic crowbar from the Half Life series are pretty good.

Even though I usually play Medic or Heavy, few things rival the Engineer's good old wrench.

1 - Crowbar in Half Life

I'd take the energy sword over the gravity hammer

Something from Left 4 Dead.

Doom fists and Quake 3 Arena Gauntlet are some of the first that comes to mind.

Weapons from Dead Island and Dead Rising.

Bayonets, IRL, are probably the best melee weapons for Shooters

Oh man, I don't know that's a tough one. I could take the easy route and say the crowbar from Half-Life, but it really isn't the all time best melee weapon. There are a lot cooler ones, let me see...

I remember the Energy Sword from Halo being being really messed up, but really fun to use and exploit. I liked glitching it out and making myself go flying in the air.

Also, the Knife from Counter-Strike was awesome, because of how difficult and awesome it was to get a kill with it. Also, the animations from Counter-Strike 1.5's knife were pretty good.

I've been playing Killing Floor a lot lately and have been getting a lot of mileage out of the katana.

The HL crowbar is definitely one of the most iconic melee weapons, but I don't think it's the best. The throwing crowbar from then HL mod Sven Co-op is pretty baller but I'm not sure where it falls on the melee/ranged scale.

Nothing from Warhammer 40k? This list is heresy.

1. Power Pellet from Pac-Man.

In terms of usefulness compared to other weapons within the game, BIoshock's wrench was pretty hard to beat.

Halo Energy Sword

Throwing knife in MW2 if that counts, not really sure.

Space Marine melee weapons. Only played the demo, but SHIT YEAH.

Sam Fisher's fists and pistols in Splinter Cell Conviction

Dead Space boot

The Persian Persuader and Half Blind Zatoichi (or whatever the katana is) in TF2

I really enjoy knifing someone from behind in BF3. It just feels so satisfying.

Your list is invalid. Where is the Lancer bayonet, or the Space Marine chainsword? It's a chainsaw...on a sword.

The Halo energy sword is awesome looking and super satisfying to use. The Halflife crow bar all things considered is kind of crappy, really only good for taking out boxes and headcrabs.

The katana in left 4 dead 2 was amazing before they nerfed the damage to tanks.

Gravity Hammer is my favorite.

Obviously Half Life's crowbar is the best melee weapon ever.

The Ulaks in Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena were pretty badass.

Wow I was going to come in here and say everything in Unreal Championship 2, considering the melee was great. But specifically mention Raiden's staff. You beat me too it.

It's not really the actual knife that makes it special but taking dog-tags from people in BF3 is pretty sweet.

Shield Gun from Unreal Tournament 2004.

Impact Hammer from Unreal Tournament.

Disarm attack from Perfect Dark.

Nanosword from Deus Ex.

Ballistic Fist from Fallout: New Vegas

I actually thought about putting the KZ3 fatalities to my list, but the reason why I didn't place them in is because there were too many times that I would die because that animation just takes too long and everyone is shooting me while it's taking place.
