Picked up Doom, Watch Dogs 2, Hitman and Telltale's Batman for 100€. Also, Steam is down at the moment.
Steam Winter Sale 2016!
Steam is down... I WANT TO PLAY STREET FIGHTER! >.<
@yagami: Well, at least I can save some money now lol
Wish I could see the sales, but steams down :(
I honestly am not sure how many good sales I'll even have access too since I use a Mac. I really think I'm just gonna build a PC next time and just use a MacBook for mac computing.
I got Furi and Clustertruck. I wantbto get Dragon's Dogma, but I know I'll have no time to actually play it.
I got Assassins Creed Rogue for 10€. Also picked up Deus Ex Mankind divided for 20€. I was eyeing Doom as well but then the store crashed.
@omgfather: Apparently so. Back to my Retropie!
@ezekiel: Rise of the Tomb Raider was a huge step in quality from the first game.
is project cars worth it if i already have the recent forza games and dig them to an extent but am not really that big of a car/racing nut? seems it will look purdy at least.
well more like i really reallydig horizon 3. just seems project cars would be redundant.
I mean, they're not really that similar. Forza is an arcade-racer and Project Cars is like a semi sim, so if you want a more simulatory experience then yeah? Actually yes definitely buy it cause it means I get more free money from the dev :D
Picked up Street Fighter 5, Thumper, and The Witness so far. Don't see much else that catches my eye.
Steam sales continue to be worse and worse. Or maybe I've bought everything that I want... Who knows.
I'm kind of in a weird bind this winter sale. I want games like Doom, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dark Souls, Deus Ex and Just Cause 3 but my PC isn't powerful enough and its either buy less intensive games or put that cash into getting a new video card. Either way I can't play those massive games this year it looks like.
this is precisely my situation- i'm still rocking a i7 930 and amd 6870, but will be upgrading to kaby lake and a 1070 as soon as intel drops them skus. trying to decide if i should buy shadow of mordor, doom, and dark souls 2 now, or just wait until tax time when i get my refund and do this new build.
in any event, i've already picked up-
final fantasy 9
jackbox 3
drawful 2
tie fighter
indiana jones and the fate of atlantis
Furi is on sale, thinking about it and torchlight 2 but might just get torchlight as i know i'll at least play that one a bit.
@ripelivejam: I was owlboy some time ago. It was a hoot.
I ended up buying Abzu instead of Rise of the TR. Because...
Shallow but beautiful arthouse game > Soullessly generic AAA action game that costs five times as much
that's nice.
i got both!
@ezekiel: Having played both I could not disagree with you more.
I'm contemplating getting either The Division or Watch Dogs 2 - I can't afford both though. I have no friends that play Division, but I really liked the aesthetics. Can anyone recommend either game? These days I only get maybe an hour or so in the evening after work to sink into a PC game. (My day off is dedicated to Persona 5 as we speak.)
@ezekiel: Having played both I could not disagree with you more.
Having played both Tomb Raider (2013) and Abzu, I'd give the former a 2/5 and the latter a 3. The Uncharted games did it better, and I don't say that as a big fan.
@feive_vz: havent played watchdogs 2 but it seems like a fun game to fuck around in and do a story mission or side quest or two. it will probably wait until next year for me though it looks surprisingly well made.
i quite enjoy the feel of the division and on your lonesome it can be a decent podcast game; theres pretty good matchmaking though if you ever venture down that path. it's good for bite sized play sessions i think, barring some longer missions.
Flash and daily deals are incompatible with refunds. Something is 50% off on Monday, then it goes to 80% off on Tuesday, and everybody who bought it Monday is asking for a refund.
The new model maybe isn't quite as exciting, but it's more consistent and causes less complaint I'm sure. I prefer it this way. Now, I can just buy everything day 1 and get playing rather than constantly watching the prices to see if something suddenly gets cheaper.
@ezekiel: Have you played Rise of the Tomb Raider? How could you possibly know it is a "soullessly generic AAA action game"? Having played both, the only correct thing you said there is that Tomb Raider is more expensive than Abzu.
Finally gonna see what all the hubbub was regarding Doom. Am also looking forward to continuing the dreary and fascinating story in the Banner Saga 2.
Ori and the Blind Forest?
I recommend Axiom Verge, btw. Fun Metroid-clone with neat gameplay, but weak storytelling and a confusing narrative.

I played it for thirteen hours straight on the highest difficulty with all survival instincts turned off, stopping this morning. It still has too much of the modern AAA experience, like ridiculously fragile and predictable roller coaster environments and everything being about currency and XP upgrades, but it's a lot better than TR 2013. I also don't hate the protagonist in this one. She's bland, but at least she's not an unbelievable weakling constantly in horrible pain.
I caved and bought Dishonored 2 last night. It's been kinda hard to decipher from the media coverage whether this is gonna be a game I'll like enough to feel good about finding 60 kangaroo dollars to spend on it, and 66% off Mankind Divided is a pretty appealing alternative as a classic Deus Ex fan, but the original Dishonored is pretty fresh in my mind from the previous Steam sale so that kinda pushed me over the edge.
Also got Rocksmith and a few smaller games.
@ezekiel: I guess now I'm confused.... You ended up buying it even though you said you bought Abzu instead? And then preceded to play it for 13 hours straight on the hardest difficulty which burnt you out on the game. If you really have such a problem with "modern AAA experiences", then why do you even play them?
@zomgfruitbunnies: Darling, you must provide more information than simply the craving. What has caught your eye? What has tickled your interest and piqued your fancy? What type of game are you in the mood for at the moment?
@ezekiel: I guess now I'm confused.... You ended up buying it even though you said you bought Abzu instead? And then preceded to play it for 13 hours straight on the hardest difficulty which burnt you out on the game.
I didn't say that. You and ripelivejam said it.

Redeeming qualities.
