The Infinity Gauntlet is a glove containing the Infinity Gems, the most powerful artifacts in the universe. Each of the six gems rules over a different domain of existence. In Marvel Super Heroes, each gem can be used to gain temporary benefits, and in Marvel Super Heroes: War Of The Gems, a gem may be equipped to a hero before the start of a level. In both Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Thanos has a Super Attack based on each gem.
This purple gem controls spatial dimensions. With it, the wielder can appear anywhere in the universe, and multiple places at the same time. They can also warp any object to any place in the universe. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem gives the user increased defense, and makes Juggernaut and Magneto temporarily invincible. In War Of The Gems, this gives the equipped character a double jump. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos opens a rift above the opponent and bombards them with asteroids.
This blue gem enhances the wielder's mental capacities, granting supreme intelligence and telepathy. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem regenerates the user's Super Gauge. This gem is possessed by Thanos in War Of The Gems, and thus is not equippable. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos reverses the opponent's controls.
This green gem is sentient, and hungers for souls. It also allows the wielder to maniuplate and steal souls. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem regenerates the user's health, and adds electric damage to Iron Man's attacks. In War Of The Gems, this doubles the equipped character's health. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos shoots a beam of energy that drains the opponent's life bar and restores his own.
This yellow gem is capable of altering the fabric of reality itself, granting any wish. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem causes random elemental attacks to accompany the user's normal attacks, and turns Blackheart invisible. In War Of The Gems, this allows the equipped character to see hidden items. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos creates two stone walls that slam together, crushing the opponent.
This orange gem gives the wielder complete control of time, allowing them to see into the future, travel through time, and even age or de-age people. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem speeds up the user, allows the Hulk to rapid fire his special attacks, and gives Shuma-Gorath's normal attacks the ability to turn the opponent to stone. In War Of The Gems, this doubles the movement speed of the equipped character. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos slows his opponent down to half their usual speed.
This red gem boosts the power of the other gems, and gives the wielder invulnerability and super strength. In Marvel Super Heroes, this gem increases the user's attack strength, creates a duplicate of Spider-Man on the opposite of the opponent, enhances Captain America's special attacks, gives Wolverine's attacks extra hits, and creates two duplicates of Psylocke on either side of her. In War Of The Gems, this increases the attack power of the equipped character. In his Super based on this gem, Thanos creates a miniature sun to damage the opponent for multiple hits.
